"Who are you and have you done with Shino Basca?" Kol Bekker demanded as his best friend trotted through the rooms of his apartment.

"What are you on right now?" Shino sighed in annoyance. "I'm right here."

"Yeah right," Kol snorted without humor, "you've been gone since last night's mission, and now you just show up with a Denny's to-go order."

Shino slid his jacket off and draped it over the couch. "Yeah, I finished surveying the target and went to a hotel room for the night to sleep."

Their hero internship was wrapped up in a war with another vigilante squad. People from out of the country looking for new meat to send to jail like them. It was their job to find a way to shut them down, keep them out of their territory on the streets. The problem though? Shino had a bit of a click with one of the enemies.

"Didn't want to reveal our location if I was followed." He lied easily.

As he shuffled through the bag of food, his mind drifted to Artemis Divil gently unbuttoning his dress shirt. Those deep purple eyes never left his as the two whispered flirtatious words against their faces and in their lips. The youngest Divil had not fumbled once with the buttons, as if he'd done it a million times and didn't need to look.

"And yet you were able to go to a very public restaurant and get breakfast?" Kol argued.

Shino closed his eyes and took a deep breath, he sounded almost annoyed. "Yeah, as a test. There wasn't anyone there that wasn't trying to savor their miserable morning."

He wasn't annoyed in fact, just trying to focus on the conversation. Smooth, pale skin under his as he raked his nails down his chest, his breaths getting quicker and quicker, growing hotter and hotter as his desires became ravenous.

"Those guys are dangerous, Basca!" Kol continued. "They're -"

"-getting into our business and are putting us in jeopardy, I know!" Then why had he felt so complete in bed with the heir to the Divil fortune?

    "-They're dangerous."

Shino rubbed his temples "I know, whatever."

Kol walked up to his friend, clasping his hand onto his shoulder. "I don't want you getting hurt, Shino. These guys are no good and can lure you into a trap."

His stomach burned at the idea. "I thought you said they were stupid and we're gonna get themselves killed within their first week here?"

"Before, yes. But now we might be the ones off the map in the next few weeks." Kol corrected.

Shino grimaced. It was a possibility that his hookup had been a way to trick him. Artemis could have slid a tracker into his jacket, gone through his contacts, anything.

But the way he had been so quiet, so polite. He didn't ask heavy questions, he didn't pressure him or invade his boundaries. He was probably the sweetest person he had talked to in a long while.

"I don't know," he sighed. "I'm going to change real fast into something comfortable. Mind if you leave?"

"Fine," He hesitated. "Just try to keep your distance from that kid."

    "I will, trust me."

This time, Kol snorted for real as he left. "I'll try, but seeing how dilated your eyes are, it's gonna be hard to."

As usual, Kol needed to leave an effect on the people he leaves behind. With a nod, the green eyed fighter disappeared through the door.

Shino felt his exhaustion infect his limbs as he sprawled himself against the kitchen island. The cold, dark blue marble soothing his sparking nerves.
