Liberty's Power

A few days later I went to visit Liberty. And she told me everything she had told her uncle. Her uncle told me, " Thomas, I thought for sure that if Liberty didn't understand the truth of herself she would've lived a more normal life. But I knew eventually she would. I tried to keep her away from the mansion, Because I feared it would be the worst way possible for her to know herself. But it took so much heart and understanding to realize that she's not a little girl anymore. She's a young woman. The last of her bloodline. And I assume it'll be her that carries on her family's legacy."

"Liberty," I said to her. "When we first met as kids, I do admit I was weirded out by you. But, that was before I understood your abilities were what made you unique. In spite such feelings. I've always liked you and never had any reason to believe otherwise. But if it wasn't for me, you truly indeed would've never understood yourself at last."

"He's right," Her uncle said. "I suppose Leota knew more about you than even I could. But it took more than your presence alone to confirm that. You are even more like your parents than you've ever known. Liberty Belle Adams, you are wise, discerning and kind hearted. Like they were. They loved you, Liberty."

"I know," she said.

It was then I remembered why I came to see Liberty.

"I think there's something you wouldn't mind doing for me," I said. "It would really help my uncle Mike a lot."

Liberty and I went to my uncle Mike's house.

"Uncle Mike, Liberty has some abilities that may indeed help you in a certain way," I said.

"Tell me," he said.

The three of us gathered together joining hands. Soon, there was a flash of light. And a familiar person stood in front of us.

"Carol, is that you?" Mike asked in surprise.

"Yes, my love," she said.

"Turns out Liberty's ancestor is Madame Leota, a psychic spirit at the mansion," I said. "The truth had to be known for her full powers to be unlocked. That is what has made this possible."

Mike looked at us. And I told him, "well, it was also nothing."

"Oh, how I've missed you so," Mike said. "Tell me, my darling. Can a heart still break once it's stopped beating? Is there love in death beyond life?"

"Yes, Mike. It can. And there is," she said. They both shared a tender kiss.

Liberty grimaced a bit. I smiled. She still had a cringy look on her face.

"Hehehe, he's not really kissing a ghost," I chuckled. She didn't seem to be fazed by it.

"Hi, Aunt Carol," I said. " I haven't seen you since I was little. You look good."

"Thank you, Thomas," she said to me. "You've grown up. You certainly look like a nice young man."

"It's quite a long story how it lead to this though," I told her.

"I'm sure you and your friend can tell me another time," she said.

She disappeared again. Mike was saddened. Yet happy that he had a reunion with her.

We soon told him the whole story.

"Thomas, you truly are the bravest young man I've ever known. It took guts to set foot there. I'm sure you will return there soon and share more about it with me."

Eventually on Halloween, I did return to the mansion. I pretty much spent the whole night there. And the more I went, the more I enjoyed it. The ghosts were always happy to see me and give a good scare or too.

And it seems things just got better for all of us after that.
