I stared at him. An angel? Could he not come up with anything more creative than a guardian angel?
"Tell me the fucking truth Malcolm!"
I began to cry, whipping the tears away quickly not wanting him to see.
"Laney please." He started trying to hug me, but I brushed him off roughly yelling about not wanting him to touch me. "I'm so sorry. I'm sorry I didn't tell you before."
"Tell me what? That you're insane?! Yea that would have been something mention before... before I had given away my virginity!" I down right sobbed.
"I'm not insane. I'll prove it." Just then he shuddered a gentle gust of wind started to blow around us, except all the Windows were closed.
"What's going on Mal? What are you doing?" I asked as he grabbed me by the wrist and guided me towards and behind him until I touched something soft. "What is this?" I caressed and pet whatever it was I was touching. "Its really soft." I almost put my face to it until he pushed me away quickly.
"No." He shook his head as I looked at him quizzically. "I wouldn't put my face on them if I were you." I asked why. "Look harder. Right where you feel the breeze." I did what was told but I couldn't see anything, that is not for a few seconds then I saw them. Beautiful black wings longer than my outstretched arms.
"They're.... majestic." I pulled him in for a kiss. Backing away for air I stroked his face in wonder. "But why are they black?" He lowered his head.
"I'm a fallen. I'm not in Grace with God, and my wings are holding the proof."
"What happened?"
"I fell for a human girl I had been protecting since she were a child... I defied the rules by pulling her off the edge of a bridge one day. But that was the best day of my life. Until the day she told me she is pregnant.." I ducked my head.
"You fell from grace for me." I began to cry again, I've been doing that a lot lately, damn hormones betraying me like this!
"No, I did it for us. Mainly for me though. I'm just too stubborn and selfish to watch you die and go to wherever you would have gone while I had to stay away forever. I just couldn't do it." I didn't know what to say so I just he him instead. Just then I felt a kick.
"Was that what I think it was?" I nodded. He smiled and placed his hands on my belly looking up at me with pride and joy.
