Gears of War: Inside Hell

Kurt was both angry and upset knowing he couldn't help his comrade but he was soon met with the struggle to hang on to the brace as the Grind Lift shook violently as it power drilled it's way down to the hollow.

Moments later, the shaking came to an immediate stop signifying the ride down has stopped. Kurt and April was then able to push the braces over their heads to get free. They exited their Lift and looked around and Kurt stumbled trying to regain his balance.

"Jeez, if Cole use to puke on a Raven, he must be painting the walls with sick right now..." Kurt said regaining his balance.

"Lovely imagery there, Kurt..." April commented, glaring at him.

Kurt put his finger on his ear piece. "Control, this is Raptor, we're inside the hollow." Kurt waited a response but got nothing. "Control do you read?" Again silence.

"Raptor, this is Alpha-One. We just heard Delta not long ago. We lost contact to the surface and limited to short range radio, but we got sights on a seeder." said a Gear through the static filled radio.

"Roger that, Alpha-One, good hunting." Kurt replied as he saw April glare at him.

"On our way here, you said we'll only have short ranged radios as an excuse not to let me go alone, then that just happened." She said to him angrily and wanting to shout but knew the endless caves would echo her voice alerting the enemy.

"To be fair, April, I didn't even know it'd work. Consider the fact we're miles underground and when was the last time our radios worked in so much as a cave?" Kurt explained in a calm matter. "Once Alpha takes out that Seeder, that doesn't mean you can run off on your own, this is enemy territory and they know it more than you do. There's ambush locations on every corner, and I doubt they'll be taking prisoners." Kurt said as he turned to April noticing she was pulling something out from the Grind Lift.

"Here, take one of these, never know when you might need it." She said seemingly ignored what Kurt said as she tossed him a combat knife sheath with a knife inside.

Kurt nodded to her saying thanks and added the sheath to his belt. Kurt then reached to his back to grab his rifle and checking the magazine.

"Sarge, can you hear me?" Shouted a female voice through the still static filled radio.

"Sarah, what's your position?" Kurt asked as April looked at him with a stupid look on her face.

"Not really sure, sir. I think our lift went off course." Sarah said as she sounded worried.

"Where's Carmine?" Kurt asked as he paced around the small area he was in.

"He saw another Grind Lift up ahead so he went to check it out and told me to stay here and defend the position."

Kurt shook his head thinking about what's best for her.

"If you can still see him, catch up to him. If not stay there and we'll come to you." Kurt suggested to Sarah as April gave him an annoyed look.

"I can see him, just about.." She replied sounding worried.

"Alright, Rook. Catch up to him and don't engage the enemy, just defend your position." Kurt ordered Sarah in a tone that would comfort her.

"Will do Sarge, wish us luck" Sarah said seeming to be more comforted.

"Hang in there, Rook, we'll be there soon." Kurt said as he then removed his finger from the earpiece and looked at April. "Let's go find 'em."

April nodded at Kurt and walked beside him walking down a lonely path that was their only option. At the same time, Kurt was thinking on how to find Carmine and Sarah. As he said himself, it was enemy territory, he doesn't know the area. His first plan was to wander aimlessly and hope to hear gunfire. There wasn't any other way to map out the hollow and pinpoint Carmine and Sarah. Soon, Kurt got word from command that Alpha-One took out the seeder and the communications are back online, Kurt thanked Hoffman and looked at April noticing she was still annoyed.
