The two of us walked for what seemed like ages in the school grounds, Crimson taking the lead. The boy mentioned wanting to talk, yet neither one of us uttered a whisper for the longest stretch of time. If I were any other person, the walk would have been quite awkward. But as an awkward person myself, I never really had to focus too much on that fact.

I found comfort in the silence, the ambience, and the stillness of a once bustling campus. Nighttime truly did bring another world into existence. The once vibrant, lively atmosphere seemed like a distant memory compared to the surreal realm we stood in now, one of secrets and introspection.

We eventually walked into areas I've only had a distant memory of coming across, but they were unfamiliar nonetheless. The fact was rather surprising, if I was going to be honest. I had thought that I'd know every inch of this school by the time I leave, as I never really had anywhere else to go for twelve years.

Crimson continued to guide me through the grounds, our shoes soiled from the damp grass that stroked against us as we brushed past. I noticed how unkempt they were near here, which meant that not a lot of people came here. I immediately took mental notes and looked around for landmarks.

Eventually, I noticed a decaying edifice in the direction we were heading towards. What the building was, I couldn't make out. One thing that stood out though, was a small tower that rose from it, which led my imagination drawing it out to be a miniature castle.

What was interesting though, was the fact that it was covered in roses. Vines and thorns dressed this building up, and those roses, so dark red they looked black, placed delicately over the crumbling walls.

He led me inside, and I recognized how there really wasn't much left of the building. The floors were practically gone, and the segments of the roof were lying on the floor. The building was basically crumbling.

"Hey, is this safe?" I asked as Crimson continued walking. There was more to see inside, but I wasn't so sure that we'd walk in and out of there without it all completely falling on top of us.

"It's fine, Gray." He reassured me, his voice echoing from inside. "I come here all the time."

I followed him, mouth agape as my eyes wandered to where the moonlight touched the building in a milky silver, outlining the contours of the remains. I looked up at the ceiling, or at least, the emptiness of what used to be the ceiling, and saw the moon, unveiled by the dissipating clouds.

"Over here, Gray." His voice sounded again. It snapped me back to reality and I made my way over to him, walking through an arch into a less decaying room. This one was bigger and had all four walls standing strong. Hell, I was just glad to be in a room where it didn't look like it was going to collapse onto us.
