Chapter 2: Meeting the Doctor and Others

An October Friday is the best type of Friday. That is what I think, but I really do not know why it is the best. Any Friday can be good, but I like October Friday's for basically no apparent reason. It is a day where I am the most relaxed. Basically I am strange man who likes certain days of the year.

Standing outside of the convention building on my phone wearing a orange sweatshirt was a way to spend a Friday. I sighed as I was reading through my younger brother's text messages about the panel I was going to go to. My brother is fifteen and is basically like sporty-like teenager who has a major geek in him. We get along unlike most siblings.

I stopped reading his messages being jealous in how he was bragging about how good that panel was. I was trying to be a good guy while my inner nerd was screaming curse words at me. The messages kept on buzzing my phone. I had enough of his messages so I sent an emoji of a middle finger to him. He replied with: XD.

I smiled as I closed out my messages. I lowered my phone to look around the area. It was filled with nerds cosplaying, a lot of them were fat which made some costumes disgusting. I sighed as I look up at the clear evening sky. As bright as it is, it made my October Friday even better. I closed my eyes and relaxed leaning against a pole.

"Are you Mr. Viceman?"

I opened my eyes to see a thirty year old man, the hair made me realized that the man in front of me was Doctor New Zealand. He was with three other girls who were students. One was a Latino girl wearing glasses and a buttoned shirt. Another was a brunette wearing a light blue jacket and black tight jeans. The smaller girl had short black hair, she looked a little like the doctor but has longer hair and a bigger chest.

The doctor wore his normal white coat. He held out his hand. I shook it saying, "I did not expect you to bring others."

"Oh!" Dr. New Zealand widened his eyes and replied to my comment, "These girls are students who wanted to see a little bit of the town before Monday when their tour/classes begin. Their university allows them to take classes in other countries on field trips."

"I see," I said scratching my chin hair wondering what school these girls go to. Is it all girl college? I looked to the three girls and introduced myself, "My name is Dominic."

"Yo!" The brunette took a step forward. "I am Juniper Schneider! Born in Germany and raised in New Zealand!"

The Latino girl adjusted her glasses. She politely introduced herself, "My name is Elena Abarca. Nice to meet you." She seemed to be the serious out of the three.

The smaller girl blushed as she introduced herself, "My name is... Flavia Rosemary." She was probably the shy girl of them. Every group of girls most of the time have a shy one of the bunch. Wait three girls meet me all of the sudden... What is this? A harem anime!

Dr. New Zealand said, "You can call me by my first name, Josh." He smiled, to me it seemed like the epidemic he was talking about had never even happened. If he looked closely into his facial reactions you know something is happening.

Juniper asked, "What is with all of the fat people dressing in tights?" She looked around to see the cosplayers walking by.

"Well, it is the university's Fandom convention where all of the nerds can go out and be nerds. Like Comic Con but smaller," I replied. There were signs all over the place saying 'Fandom Con!'.

"Sweet!" Her eyes lit up when she finally saw the Fandom Con signs.

Josh asked, "Do you know anywhere good to eat?" He signaled for me to chat with him in private. I leaned forward, "This weekend I am booked with work with the students. On Tuesday we can meet in private and talk about the epidemic." He whispered to me.
