One dance turned into two, and that turned into three, and before I knew what was happening I actually believed everything was okay between Crash and I. In all honesty if you looked at our actions we looked like a couple. But even with more than a few drinks in me I knew that I needed to get away before I agreed to do something stupid with him.
"Crash, alright, let go, you've had your dance" I turned to face him. "It's time to go"
"C'mon Bridge. We were having so much fun." He held my gaze and I swear the universe was against me at that moment because Savage's "Swing" came on and I needed to dance and Crash knew it. "Bridge, it's your favorite song. One more. Please."
"No, Crash, I've had enough."
"OH NO YOU DON'T!" Alexa grabbed my arm, "Excuse me evil spawn, I get to borrow my girl for a dance. You can wait." Her head swung to the side adding, "At the bottom of the lake. Yeah that sounds great." Crash stepped back, eyes filled with rage and jaw locked out. She knew she had hit a nerve then "Bye bye now."
"Fine. Take her. Just know Bridge, I may have let you go once, but it won't happen twice."
I turned my head to Alexa, "was that a threat or a warning or...."
"Well to be honest, whatever it is, it's killing my vibe and I'm hating it, so stop talking about it and let your inner stripper out or I'm throwing you off the boat."
She was right, I needed to let go, and "Swing" was the perfect release. My body was swaying in the dark and I most definitely needed to go to confession after I was done with that dance but when a pair of hands enclosed mine and a body was behind me it only got worse. "Crash, take a hike."
"What if I'm not Crash? Do I still need to leave?" A voice whispered in my ear, lip ring grazing my ear.
I let out a very drunk giggle. "Only if you intend on getting me a drink in the time you're gone."
"Why don't we go talk upstairs instead?" Luke offered his hand and I gladly accepted it.
He led me through the sea of bodies and only had to catch me twice which I considered a win since we had to ascend the stairs. I was a drunk mess and he was acting like he hadn't placed a bottle to his lips all night.
"You know" I began, "you need a drink. Or maybe that's me. Or both. Yeah I like that idea."
"No, I'm good, and I think you are too."
"So you're making decisions for me? That's not cool."
"Bridget, who was that guy dancing with you earlier?"
Like he really needed to know. I hardly knew this boy and he was expecting me to just spill details about my life when I hardly knew anything about him. But then at this moment my head was killing me and I really needed to find somewhere to pass out.
"It's a complicated relationship. We were a thing but then we weren't a thing and then we were and then he cheated on me and then I.........."
"You what?" He questioned, curiosity raging in his eyes.
"I sorta, kinda, destroyed his car with a sledgehammer." I began to laugh recalling the events and his face when I walked off and handed him my weapon. "Oh no. I sound like a crazy exgirlfriend." My head fell into my hands. I was completely blowing it with him.
He laughed and when he didn't stop laughing my hands fell from my face and I laughed with him. Luke reached up and wiped tears from his eyes. "What?" I continued to laugh.
"Oh nothing, you're just so small, I find it adorable that you completely destroyed his car with a sledgehammer." He said in between laughs. "I will definitely be telling the lads about this one."
"Luke! No!"
"Oh yes, that is the best thing I have ever heard in my life."
I rolled my eyes. Out of all the things he could know about me, I tell him basically that I am a psycho and I'm not afraid to destroy personal property. Fan-freaking-tastic.
The next thing I knew the boat started moving. I looked around but I was too tired to care. As we picked up speed, Luke got up from his chair across from me and went to see where we were headed. I grabbed a blanket from the box under the bench and wrapped it around my shoulders as I sat back down. My eyes drifted close and my body began to relax. I was going to regret everything in the morning. A pair of arms lifted me up from my chair and said, "I told you I would carry you home by the end of the night. I'm just disappointed that you didn't get to see my amazing beer pong skills. I completely wrecked all the competition tonight. I could have used a cheerleader to continue my streak."
"I saved you from embarrassment tonight Calum. You should really be thanking me." I placed my head back on his shoulder and wrapped my arms around his neck.
"Hey now, don't try anything. I am a gentleman and I refuse to take advantage of you like this. Or at least I'm trying to be a gentleman."
"Shhhhh. You're ruining this moment."
"We're having a moment?"
I only laughed as he placed me down in front of my door. "You're a good guy Calum."
"Luke is too. Just remember that. If you remember anything from tonight.."
I laughed again. He spoke the truth. My hand held on to the door knob for support. Everything began to sway again. "I'll try to. Thanks- Thanks again C- Calum."
"Anything for the girl who lives down the hall."
He turned away, heading for his room. I entered the room, crawling straight into bed, and leaving the door open so all Alexa had to do was close it when she came in. As I began to drift off again, the staircase began to creak. "Lex?" I called wondering why she was just now getting home.
An outline of a figure stood in the doorway. "Just go back to sleep. Everything is alright Bridge." I must have been dreaming because after that my body relaxed and I went right back to sleep.
