1| What Started It All

"Hello?" Nova answered her phone.

"Nova babe are you coming to the party Tonight?" Her friends asked loudly screaming above the music. "I can't Lani you know my parents would kill me if they found out that I snuck out of this god damn fortress." Nova sighed unhappily.

"Girl you're literally almost 21 you're an adult!" Lani said screaming into the phone. "I'm going to get caught you know that" Nova said through a laugh

"Maybe but the men here will make it worth your while if you make it" Atlanta cooed. Nova knew she shouldn't.

She was the crown princess of Lenore. Sneaking out in the middle of the night just to go and party wasn't something a princess would do. But she was also a 20-year-old who wanted to go out and have fun. She couldn't just accept the fact that she would be confined to the palace walls forever. "Fine I'll be there." Nova said as she hung up the phone.

I'm really going to regret this Nova thought as she began to put on her outfit. She let her blonde hair fall down to her shoulders after she finished her makeup. This looks decent, I guess. She though as she exited her room and snuck through the halls while it was still dark enough outside. She was as quiet as a mouse. There was absolutely no sound coming from her.

The only problem were the guards. They were everywhere you turned I mean luckily half of them were asleep and the other half were about to fall over from exhaustion but that didn't mean they couldn't detect her.

Like that one time she tried to sneak out last year and her least favorite guard caught her trying to go out with her friends and her parents' released hell on her because God forbid, she went out and had fun.

She learned her lesson though; never sneak through the front doors. After that Nova only snuck through windows and side doors but a different one each time so if she left a trace, they wouldn't find her at that one again.

So, there she was successfully out of the first-floor window on her way to her Uber. The driver recognized her right away.

"Oh my god you're the princess! It's you!" Oh my god it's me! she thought mockingly. The driver would just not stop talking, it was like he went on forever.

Finally, she was there. This was probably one of the biggest parties she's ever been to, but fortunately enough big parties were her element. Before she walked in Nova devised a plan that deep down, she knew she wouldn't stick to but it's good to have it anyway.

She'd have a couple drinks and hang out with her friends maybe hook up with a person or two then she needed to be back home by 2am. The guards always did their rounds at 2 so it was absolutely necessary she was out of here at 1:45 and back in bed at 2.

She tried to stick to her plan, but she had one too many drinks and hooked up with one too many people and just like that it was 2 in the morning. She was still at the party.

"Hey what time is it?" a pretty girl with dark hair asked loudly. She looked at her with a drunken smile before she reached for her phone "it's 2:28" Nova told the dark-haired girl with a smile "thanks gorgeous" the girl said back and walked off. She mindlessly took another shot but right after that it hit Nova like a fucking bolder "Oh shit!" Nova thought out loud.

She was drunk out of her mind but she's drunken worse than this and it didn't feel this bad. Was she just roofied?! She stumbled through the crowd of people "excuse me, excuse me, sorry." She said as she pushed passed everyone in her way but there was no way was, she was going to make it to the main entrance.

She felt helpless. It had been so long since Nova cried about anything but at this moment, she felt all her emotions building up. She then felt a cold hand on her arm aggressively pulling her out of the side entrance into the alley.

Hopefully the palace had sent him. Next thing she knew she was against the hard alley wall. Her head was aching. She could barely see this person's face. While she tried to get a clear vision of who the person was, she felt a sharp metal against her throat and a rough hand on her cheek.

She quickly sucked air through her teeth.

This is a shitty way to die honestly.

"Sh sh sh sh sh" a feminine voice said next to her ear.

"Je ne vais pas te tuer" the woman told her but that didn't make her feel any relief because when she got home, she was going to wish she was dead.

"Princesse this is only a message" she said as her hand ran through her hair and played with the ends. She looked over to see her hands and she completely went into shock. Her ring.

But there was no way, right? There couldn't be there's only one of those rings and it belonged to Nova...or so she thought? The woman laughed before pulling the knife from her throat and cutting her cheek.

Nova fell the ground in pain holding her arm. The woman picked up Nova's phone and turned on her location that had previously been off. She knew exactly why the unfamiliar lady did it. The guards would have noticed she was gone by now. She closed her eyes for two seconds and the figure that attacked her was now gone. She couldn't even stay conscious.

She was alone in an abandoned alley with, only hope that maybe her parents would find her.
