"WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING!" Nova's mothers' words rung through her ears. Her head was pounding as she tried to remember what happened last night and then it hit her.
"Oh, my goodness! I had to get on the first flight back when they called me at 4 in the morning about you it was a 6-hour fucking flight Étoile your father was worried sick! God! How could you be so irresponsible? You're an adult now." Her mother rambled.
She left 2 days ago on business. No one knows what type of business but hey! Nova knew it wasn't any of hers. "Mom! Please okay my head hurts enough already."
Her mother cut her off. "I'm just relieved you're alright, okay? Can't I be relieved for my only daughter?" "Mama I'm okay" Nova whispered.
Her father came bursting through her room door and as soon as he fixed his voice to yell, she spoke "Papa please, mom already yelled enough for the two of you."
Her father looked towards the queen with a soft grin on his face. He came closer to his daughter to examine the damage done to her. Of course, by now all of her wounds have been bandaged and she'd been cleaned up, but he could still tell that it was bad.
"Do you know who did this too you Très cher?" Her father spoke sternly. "No papa I'm not sure but..." she hesitated to speak. Her mother and father leaned in and spoke at the same time "But what?"
She thought about telling them about how she saw the ring on her attacker's hand and how her getting hurt was personal and apparently a message.
She didn't say anything though because she knew her parents would never let her leave the palace ever again. Nova had been getting threats sent to her for about 6 months now, but she didn't want to tell her parents because she knew they'd overreact. I mean come on they were just simple threats sent to the princess, right?
It wasn't necessarily unheard of for a princess or a member of a royal family to be threatened.
"Nothing. I couldn't even see the persons face. Now if you'll let me your majesties, I feel like I haven't had a meal in ages so I'm going to go eat. Au revoir!" She walked out of her room laughing.
She knew there would be some kind of food prepared downstairs for her so she waltzed down the stairs to find a spread of foods.
She knew for sure her mother asked them to prepare this. She thanked servers who brought it out to her and dug in. She looked at the clock above her head and squinted to read the time.

Jesus have I really been asleep that long Nova thought before she heard her father and mother arguing not so far away and not so quietly.
"She is only a child! She needs a team of protection!"her father, king Phillip, yelled.
"Ah yes send your 20-year-old daughter around everywhere with a team of people! You do realize that if you show you do not trust her then she will just continue to disobey you and sneak out! I mean wasn't it your guard who were supposed to watch her in the first place!"
Her mother, queen fleur, shouted back. Oh god here we go "I will hire the best team in Europe to watch her not some lousy castle guards! We can't trust her don't you see that she already got hurt once I won't let it happen again" Her father insisted.
Nova finished her food quickly and went up to stop the yelling "I am not going anywhere with a team of people papa that's outrageous" She intervened "Étoile! We cannot protect you! And you cannot protect yourself!" Her father yelled back.
Her mother stepped in front of him and looked him in the eye "Phillip. She is coming of age to take the throne. If we cannot protect her, we must teach her to protect herself. We cannot send her everywhere with a group of people we don't know."
The king sighed "Fine. Just let me think about it." Nova stepped away from her parents' bedroom and into her room to find her phone. She grabbed it to see 138 messages and notifications. Please I am not dead.

"Nova Elise Dubois!" Her father said as loud as possible waking her up the morning after. She strutted into the common room looking at all the paintings of her family as she walked by.
"I promise you Nova is enough father must you use my full government name?" He sent her a short smile.
"I've come to my decision child. You are my only daughter and my most prized possession.my greatest gift. I hope you understand that in no way can I lose you which is why I got so scared yesterday and I know in a way I was out of line and even though I think the team would be the best decision I see that you and your mother think it's not that great of an idea."
Nova spoke "So no team?" "No team...but" I knew there was going to be a fucking catch oh my god, Nova thought to herself. "I've hired you a bodyguard." He said suddenly.
"Papa no." Nova said shaking her head.
"Yes Daughter." Her father said with no room for argument.
How was am I going to sneak out now? Nova thought.
This was just great.
