Momma- Kendrick Lamar
Nova~
"You cannot be serious."
"This is the end of the discussion. You are going to have this bodyguard" he said sternly. She grunted in frustration "oh my god does mom know?" Nova groaned.
He didn't reply.
"Papa can't you just fire him? There's really no reason to have him around at all." Nova tried to reason with her father.
She just needed her father to get rid of this bodyguard. While it might have seemed selfish that all Nova wanted to do was go out and party could you really blame her?
She was sick and tired of the rules and the boring plain palace walls. And on the rare chance that she was allowed to go out it was never to go out and have fun. It was always some sort of parliament meeting or charity event.
And while Nova loved her citizens- she couldn't say the same about parliament- and took their concerns and needs very seriously she also wanted some time to herself. And however selfish it may have sounded it was true.
"He's already halfway here. He will start tomorrow." Her father said.
"Oh my god papa" she whined.
"You are not safe out there; I mean look at what happened yesterday." Nova looked at him with a blank face and just walked away to find her mom. She knew her father loved her, she really did, but she just hated being treated like a helpless kid.
"Mama!" She ran to her mother shouting like a little kid. She found her mother on her bed reading a book. "What is it Étoile?" Nova smiled at the nickname her mother has called her since she was a baby but then her smile dropped when she remembered what she came to tell her.
She sat down next to her mother on the bed and put her head in the older woman's lap "Did you know papa got me a bodyguard? I mean can you actually believe that?!"
Her mother didn't reply she just stroked Nova's hair which she found suspicious "Oh you think he's right, don't you?" Nova said with a sassy tone.
She couldn't believe her mother sided with her father. Yes, Nova knew she was a princess. And yes, Nova was aware that she needed to be protected. But, why couldn't she just go out for a few hours to have fun?
It just wasn't fair.
"Sweetheart I think it's for the best. I mean if he can't keep you from going out At least it's good to have someone he knows is qualified for the job."
In the end she knew her mother was right. Of course, when she went to her mom, she expected her to agree with her but to be fair they reasonably wanted to keep the last of the bloodline safe.
It was just unfortunate that Nova was the last of that bloodline.
Being the next ruler was a lot to take on. Nova looked their family tree over and over to see if there were any loopholes so she could continue the role just being princess and not the crowned princess but there never was.
Her mother was an only child who she knew always wanted siblings, but her parents just never had another. Her father was not an only child he had a brother, but he passed away before him and his wife could have a baby.
Nova's father always made sure his brother's wife was well kept, and she actually didn't live too far from the castle. She was like an aunt to nova and every now and then she would confide in her.
And in this case, she might just have to confide in her aunt once again. The idea of a bodyguard sounded ridiculous. But, for her mother and father's sake she would just have to accept it.
It still wasn't going to stop her from sneaking out and going to parties. But it would help ease her parents worries.
Now nova just had to sit and wait for her new bodyguard to arrive.
