Of course, Muzan didn't mean what he said. He thought about a lot of things after that night, and decided that didn't mind if Y/n spent time together, of course as long as it didn't cross the line of friendship or so, and Douma hadn't done badly on his last missions. On the contrary, since he became closer to Y/n, he has done even much better on his tasks.

In fact, Muzan just wanted to know if Douma really feels anything for his daughter, and if not, to show that Y/n.

And now he was just sure that now, words of agreement would come out of Douma's mouth with his usual smile, that almost never left his face, and Y/n would hear it, and never want to see Douma again, so he wouldn't even have to not allow anything. 
He let go of his Blood Demon Art to let him breathe, and then something happened that Muzan hadn't expected.

The moment he said that, instead of the usual fake smile, something changed.
Muzan looked at Douma closer: his eyes widened and his breathing, still almost inaudible, became much faster.

As then suddenly he heard the words echoing through silence

"-My Lord, I dare not contradict you, and I thank you very much for your mercy, but I can't. I can't accept this."

Kibutsuji's face showed a subtle of surprise and misunderstanding. Of course, somewhere in the back of his mind that thought of Douma declining his proposal, might have slipped in, but right now, he couldn't quite believe what he was hearing.

"-Again?"

A smile appeared on Douma's face again
"-Muzan-sama, you are showing me unprecedented mercy, but I can't agree. So..."

Upper Moon Two looked up, smiling into Kibutsuji's eyes, and threw his arms out to sides
"-... torture me, kill me, do as you wish, my Lord." he looked at Muzan with smile.

As then Douma heard his calm, icy cold voice echo through the silence of the Infinite Castle
"-All right, if you say so."

(Douma's POV:)

"-What is he going to do with me? Is going to gouge my eyes out? Or maybe, crush my bones? Will I be able to see Y/n ever again? Am I going to stay alive even as Upper Moon Two, or is he going to kill me at the end? Muzan-sama is always unpredictable...How exiting~"

(No one's POV:)

Immediately, he felt something invisible squeezing his body, his insides, applying pressure that would have made a human scream in pain. But Douma's body was far from human, and so he didn't move a single muscle on his face.

Then Muzan heard that familiar smell getting much stronger, approaching from somewhere nearby.

"-Who is it?" though ran through his mind. He looked around, but saw no one, so he quickly dismissed the thought, assuring himself that he was just imagining things.

"-But..."

He started to walk even closer to Upper Moon Two, and then, looked with his crimson red eyes up at him

"-...may I ask why?"

Douma looked up at Kibutsuji, giving smile in his eyes
"-Muzan-sama, I can't agree to that, because Y/n-sama and I love each other."

Muzan raised his eyebrows, not fully believing what he just heard.
Douma...Truly loves Y/n?

(Muzan's POV:)

I moved my hand, loosening the Blood Demon Art that was holding Douma. As then all of sudden then I felt familiar smell again and saw someone approaching from behind with lightning speed.
And before I could process a single thing in my head, I instantly saw Y/n hanging onto Douma, almost knocking him down, and squeezing herself to his chest, crying.
She clearly smelled of fear and worry.

"-Huh. I teleported her too far away, that Y/n almost didn't hear the conversation. It looks like she got really scared for Douma." Muzan's mind went through the motions.

(No one's POV:)

He was about to say something out loud to her, when crimson red tearful eyes met his, and a cry broke out

"-Don't hurt Douma!!! For the first time in my life, I feel that someone worries about me, protects me, loves me that much, and now you want to take him away from me? No way I will let you do that!!!"
