"This hole you put me in wasn't deep enough, and I'm climbing out right now.

You're running out of places to hide from me.".

Arkham Asylum was a place of madness.

As Grady Harris and his cousin Merton were led through the hallways of the Asylum, they couldn't stop looking in all directions. Well, Merton couldn't. Grady had once worked in Arkham as an orderly and knew, more or less, what to expect. The latter, however, still felt a shiver run down his spine. Merton, the oldest of the two, acted as if someone was about to attack him at any moment. That fact amused an orderly, who, in his green rubber apron, guided them through the maze of hallways.

"Hey, Warden Reed," Grady greeted after shaking the orderly's hand, and the man left.

Reed awaited for them in the middle of the hallway, leaning against the wall. A tall and slender middle-aged man in a cheap suit. His face was one of boredom, but when he saw them, a greedy smile pulled at the corners of his lips. Those two had a handful of money for him, and he wasn't one to back out when the dealings involved money entering his pockets.

Grady turned to his cousin, who was still searching his surroundings for a potential threat. "Warden Reed's the boss here".

Merton couldn't help but keep an eye on the room to their left. It was some sort of recreational room for the patients. To him, it was like walking into those haunted Asylums in the horror movies. He couldn't help but jump when a man threw himself at the door of his room, screaming and laughing maniacally with his tongue out. It was creepy enough to make Merton stagger forward, eager to get away but still not wanting to show he had been affected.

"Where is he?" Merton asked the Warden.

Reed was always amused by the reactions of those who had an encounter with the patients. Their discomfort was the only source of entertainment for him in a place like Arkham.

"This way". The Warden led them through what appeared to be an endless series of hallways. They only stopped once they reached room number C-307. "Now, before I take you to what you came for, I need to show you something else".

Warden Reed looked inside the room through the small rectangular window on the door. The other two followed his gaze. Inside the room was a petite brunette sitting on her bed, her legs pulled up to her chest. They couldn't see her face because her messy chocolate brown hair covered it like a curtain. The girl rocked her body back and forth.

"Cromwell," Grady gasped before looking at Reed. "She's not why we're here. We're here for Crane only".

Merton eyed his cousin with a crease between his eyebrows, faced the girl, and then his cousin again. "Who's that?"

With a monotone voice, the Warden explained. "Jasira Cromwell. Let's just say the old director liked to make secret experiments in the basement. Created many monsters right under where we're standing. Don't ask me why. I don't get paid enough to care". He looked at the girl inside again before continuing. "What you're looking at here, gentlemen, is an experiment gone terribly wrong. Although Professor Hugo Strange didn't see it that way. He even gave her a name. Dread. Jasira escaped along with the others from the basement a year ago, but was caught soon after".
