"How about we finally start your lessons, hm?" He raises an eyebrow and gestures at the icy water. I give him a quizzical look.

"What do you want me to do?" I query, examining the water. My now dry hair hung messily from my head and I kept having to brush the strands out of my face, cursing myself for not bringing a hair tie.

"I want you to walk across to me," He replies. My head snaps up.

"What? You want me to walk on water?" I ask with wide eyes "somehow I don't think that's part of my power package," he rolls his eyes and gestures for me to try. I turn my gaze back to the water.

There's no way I can actually walk on water. So far my powers seem to be ice based. Ice.. does he want me to freeze the water? It seemed like a stretch but I couldn't think of anything else. Worth a try, I thought and shrugged. Turning all my focus to freezing the water I hesitantly place one foot over the edge, barely hovering over the freezing water.

Slowly, so very slowly, I lower my foot down and close my eyes, expecting cold water to wash over my sneakers. But instead my feet touch solid ground. I open my eyes and upon seeing my foot on solid ice, release a heavy breath. I then lower my other foot onto the ice. It holds.

I glance up at Loki, excitement bubbling up inside of me. Then the ice below me cracks and I'm suddenly surrounded by freezing cold water, again. I quickly pull myself above the water. Loki's stood at the same spot, looking at me with an expectant look.

"Well? Try again."

After what feels like several hours I finally manage to walk over to Loki without falling into the water. Goosebumps cover my entire body and my teeth are chattering uncontrollably, but I can't keep away the grin stretched across face.

Finally, a power that's actually somewhat useful. I feel the sudden urge to hug Loki, who wears a proud and smug look, but resist.

"I did it!" I say instead, trying to rein in my chattering teeth. Loki nods and waves his hand, instantly it feels like I've been dumped with boiling hot water and the shivering stops.

"Yes, you did," Loki nods to himself and seems to be holding in a smile "I think it's time we head back now, It's getting quite late," I nod my head in agreement and we start heading back towards the small hut.

***

We walked through the forest in complete silence. The cold was starting to creep back as the sky darkened and wisps of cold wind surrounded us.

"So what's for dinner?" I ask, desperate to alleviate the silence. Loki ignores me. "How do you even get your food? Is it magic? Do you have a disguise? Do you even have money?" I try again. He once again ignores me. I start to ramble. "Why are you even here? Are you even allowed to be here? Does Odin know? Is Odin a good dad? I mean, I know he's a God and a King and usually, even if you're just a rich guy, you don't pay attention to your kids much. Or is it different on Asgard? I've always wanted to visit Asgard. It seems like such a cool place. Hey, maybe you can-"

"Can you stop. Talking," Loki snaps, interrupting me. We walk in silence once again. And once again, I break the silence.

"Hey, so I was wondering-" something grabs on to me and puts their hand over my mouth, preventing me from saying anything else.

I struggle to get out of their grip. Out of the corner of my eye I can see Loki laying in a heap on the ground just a few feet away, a group of people surrounding him. I struggle harder against my captors grip but a sharp pain erupts on the side of my head and my vision dims to black.
