"Jacks in jail."

Those three words send both relief and annoyance through Katherine's veins. Relief because she hadn't seen Jack all day and she was afraid he'd been murdered or something. And annoyance because only Jack could get into enough trouble to get him in jail, she'd have to bail him out. Again. The first time he'd been locked up over night along with many others for starting a riot, she wondered what happened this time.

"Are you kidding me? What did he do this time?" Katherine asked Davey who stood out side of her door having just delivered the message.

"Don't know, I only saw them dragging him into the station." Davey replied with a shrug. Katherine face palmed and let out an annoyed sigh.

"We've been together for three years, you'd think he'd learn by now." Katherine said leaning against the door jam.

"Let's be honest, Jack never learns."

It was true Jack would be Jack. Davey offered to come with her but she felt like they needed to be alone when she lectured him. So she sent Davey home grabbed some bail money and headed out the door with a swish of her skirt. The sun was just setting over the New York sky line and the air was hot and humid, Katherine wished she'd changed into something cooler. She was wearing a purple and black dress that came out at the bottom, it was long sleeved and Katherine felt like she was being baked alive. The walk to the station wasn't far from her apartment maybe 10 or 15 minutes but by the time she reached the doors she was panting like a dog. Great fully the station was nice and cool with a constant stream of cold air coming from a vent over the main desk. She walked purposefully up to the desk and paused in front of a guy siting at the desk. He was a heavy man with a white police uniform who looked completely involved in his newspaper. She cleared her throat to get her attention.

"Excuse me, I'm here to get someone." She said trying to sound polite even though she was still a little annoyed. The man glanced up at her distastefully as if she had interrupted something important.

"Name." He said dully.

"Jack Kelly." She said shortly.

"And your relationship?" The man asked finally putting his paper down.

"Um, girlfriend." She answerd feeling annoyed at this guy for taking so long.

"Jack Kelly?" Another voice called from the other side of the desk. Katherine looked to see who had spoken but she couldn't see anyone. "I didn't know Jack Kelly had girlfriends."

Movement caught her eye and she finally saw who had spoken, the man was lying on his back next to his chair. He sat up and pulled something that looked like an ice patch from his left jaw.

"Excuse me?" She asked a little confused at the mans comment. The guy laughed and stood up. Katherine took a step back as she took in this mans size, he was tall maybe four inches taller than her. He wore the same white police uniform except it looked two sizes too small, it hugged his chest and fore arms making his muscles pop. His hair was a light brown and he had bottle cap green eyes that seemed to see through every wall Katherine put up. He looked about her age and she had a feeling he was a lot smarter than he looked.

"Let me deal with this one Frank." The guy said to the man reading the newspaper. The man didn't respond.

"My names Ryan Spencer." He guy said holding out a hand to her. She took it hesitantly and almost winced at how cold his hands were, must of been from the ice he had put on his face. Katherine looked at him closer and noticed a large purple bruise forming on his jaw, it stood out against his tan skin. She realized with a jolt he was waiting for her to respond.
