Katherine wakes up at 5:30 am sharp and heads for the police station. Why so early? She couldn't sleep. Every word that had been spoken the night before kept washing through her head. It also didn't help that her bed felt to cold with out Jacks body to heat it up, he always stayed the night with her and it was weird not having his arms around her.

"Jack Kelly. I'm here to get him out." Katherine said slapping her hand on the desk. It was a different guy this time, he was older and looked very tired.

"Mr. Kelly you say? Alright then, you got some money?" He man asked scratching his grey beard. Katherine took out the needed money and gave it to the man, he counted it slowly. What was with every cop being so slow? At that thought Katherine glanced around in search of the Spencer guy, his massive frame was no where to be seen.

"You sure its wise to bail Kelly out? He's one troublemaker." The cop said sticking her money in a folder.

"I'm sure." She said. Did every cop in New York know Jack? Was he really that much of a trouble maker?

"Wait here I'll bring him out." The cop said and disappeared down the hall way her and Spencer had gone. She took a deep breath and took a long look around the room, it was pretty boring, grey walls and a gray carpet made it hard to focus on just one thing. It gave Katherine the impression her life was being sucked out. She heard voices from down the hall one of the voices was defiantly Jacks.

"Why you gotta be so pushy?" She herd him say as his voice grew louder.

"Pick up your feet Kelly, I don't have time for your games." She herd the cop grumble. Two seconds later Jack and the cop stumbled in Jack looking like he'd just woke up (which he probably had since it was almost 6am) his hair was messy as always and his hat was threatening to fall off his head. His nose had stopped bleeding and his shirt seemed to have collected most of the blood.

"Katherine baby! Boy, am I glad to see you!" He said spotting her, Katherine rolled her eyes at him. The cop unlocked Jacks cuffs and let go of the back of his collar. Jack stepped away and fixed his collar shooting the cop an annoyed look.

"Stay out of trouble." The cop told Jack and walked back to his desk. Katherine's arms were around Jack in a second.

"I missed you." She whispered in his ear as he held her back tightly.

"It's been less than twelve hours," he said with a chuckle "I always knew you couldn't resist me." Katherine laughed and pulled away.

"Just stop getting yourself in jail, that's all I ask." She said and grabbed his hand. A shadow passed over Jacks face.

"This time it wasn't my fault."

"You punched a cop. On purpose." Katherine retorted.

"He was asking for it, he wouldn't shut up about... you know what? Never mind." Jack said shanking his head.

"How do you know him?" Katherine asks running her thumb across his knuckles.

"Not here Ace, later." Jack said glancing around him nervously. The only other person in the room was the old man and he was too involved in his paper work to notice they were still standing there. Jack squeezed her hand and pulled her out the doors to meet the rising sun. It was a breath taking gold and orange as it broke out across the New York skyline.

"Why did you punch Spencer?" Katherine asked as Jack dragged her back up the street to her apartment. Jack didn't answer her, his only reaction was speeding up his pace making Katherine practically jog to keep up. She bit back a million other questions as she trailed behind Jack. How did Jack and Spencer know each other? Why had Jack called him Bolt? And why had Spencer gotten so angry when Jack mentioned him being alone? These questions attacked her mind as they finally reached the stairs of her apartment building. She was gasping for breath by the time they entered her apartment on the third floor, Jack carefully sat her down on her couch as he too looked a little winded.

"Why... did... we have to... run?" She panted clutching her chest.

"That was a fast walk." Jack argued and unbuttoned the front of his shirt to cool off.

"Jack," Katherine said finally able to control herself. "Will you answer my questions now?"

Jacks eyes darted to her window and back to her, he crossed to her window and drew the curtains closed. Katherine rolled her eyes at his caution, what did he possibly have to say that would make him take the time to close the windows?

"What do youse want ta know?" Jack asked looking out her window. Those million questions popped into her mind simultaneously and she had to concentrate to pick which one to ask first.

"H-how do you know Spencer?"

Jack didn't answer at first, he seemed to be contemplating what to tell her.

"I guess you could say he was a friend of mine. Back when I was a kid, we used to sell our papers together." He said carefully, Katherine herd something in the tone of his voice, something that meant the memory was almost painful for him to think about.

"Is that why you called him Bolt? Was that his Newsie name?" She asked siting up straighter on the couch so she wouldn't miss anything he said.

"Yea... Bolt," a gost of a smile crossed his lips "no lock in the world could of kept that kid out of something he wanted. He could pick a dead bolt in a matter of seconds, craziest thing I ever saw." Jack said turning to her.

"Well, what happened between you guys?" Katherine asked. Jack frowned and walked over to her so he could sit next to her on the couch.

"Well, back when ole' Snyder da spider still had his power, Spencer..." Jack trailed off. "You know what? It don't matter no more, it was a long time ago."

Katherine bit her lip, she didn't want to pressure Jack into telling her something that rubbed salt in his wounds. But she also wanted to know why he didn't want to tell her. What could of possibly happened?

"Well... why did you punch him then?" Katherine asked deciding to take another route.

"He deserved it." Jack said and leaned back to put his hands behind his head.

"I'm being serious Jack."

Jack took a deep breath. "I haven't seen him in 5 years, he moved to Long Island and I never expected to see him again."

Katherine put a hand to his knee to encourage him to go on.

"So when I saw him in da Market yesterday, we disagreed on a few things and he got on my nerves and, well, I socked him. He got me back and called for a few of his buddy's to come help him out." Jack let out a dark chuckle, "just like old times, little buddy Bolt is calling for help... anyway, they cuffed me and took me to the station on charges of "attacking an unarmed official" like Ryan Spencer could ever be official material." Jack put and arm around her waist and pulled her closer to him.

"How come you don't like each other anymore?" Katherine asked feeling a little bad for bringing it up but she needed to know. It was in her reporting instincts to know every detail about a story.

"It don't really matter no more, it was a long time ago." Jack said nonchalantly. Katherine could see right though that lie, by the way he wasn't looking at her and the set of his jaw she knew it was still a big deal, at least to him. They were silent for a few minutes until she couldn't stand it anymore. She suddenly smiled and poked him in the chest trying to lighten the mood.

"Hey, if you ever hit Spencer again make sure you aim for his pretty teeth. Oooh! Or his eyes, boy, does he have gorgeous eyes!" Katherine said dramatically, her attempt worked and his mood lightened almost instantly making her feel better.

"Wouldn't that put a damper on our relationship." Jack said with a chuckle.

"It sure would." Katherine said and leaned in to kiss him. She kissed him slowly and moved her hand to open his shirt wider so she could run a hand down his chest and stomach. She pulled back and he had a goofy grin on his face, she couldn't help but grin back and kiss him again. For now, Ryan Spencer and Jacks mysterious past were forgotten. Right now all Katherine could think about was Jack, and how happy she was to have his arms back around her.
