After Salem had calmed down some, Godric was able to get her into his car.
"Follow us to our place," Alice said.
Godric nodded once before sliding into the driver's seat to follow the Cullen children back to their home. The whole ride, Godric could tell his mate was afraid of whatever she heard in Isabella's thoughts. Twenty minutes later the three cars were pulling up in front of an elegant home. Godric got out of the car first before speeding over to open Salem's door. Opening her door, Jasper appeared in front of her where he held his hand out for her to take. Smiling at her southern mate, Salem couldn't help but to feel calmness coming from him.
"Thank you, kind sir," Salem said, her southern accent slipping.
"You're welcome, ma'am," Jasper replied, his own southern accent slipping through.
Salem smiled at her mate as she allowed him to lead her into his home. Jasper gently squeezed her hand as he led her up the stairs to the upper living room area where Salem saw two people who she didn't know sitting on the couch. One was a woman with brown hair and a heart-shape face that gave out a motherly nature. The other was a tall blonde man who looked to be about Eric's age and Salem could feel the same pull to him that she did to her other mates. Before anyone could say a word, the front door slammed open, and Salem was pulled from Jasper's arms and into her Viking mate's arms.
"Vad är det som stör dig min blomma? (What's troubling you my flower)?" Eric asked in Swedish, as he held his mate closely.
Salem placed her hands on Eric's cheeks, placed her forehead against his and showed him everything that happened today dealing with Isabella. When Salem pulled away from her mate, she saw that his fangs were out, and he was livid.
"She's dead," Eric hissed as he pulled Salem against his chest wanting to keep her safe.
"Eric," Godric said, causing him to look at his maker. "You cannot kill the human...Yet."
"I forgive you," Salem said in a whisper as she pressed her face into Eric's chest.
Salem missed her mate in the few days that they were separated and the pain she felt was unbearable, but due to being surrounded by her other mates helped lessen the pain that Salem was feeling from being separated from Eric. Eric looked at his mate in surprise since he didn't think she'd forgive him so quickly and pulled from the hug holding Salem by her shoulders as he looked her in the eyes.
"You do," he asked just having to make sure.
What happened next shocked the Cullens since they knew of the reputation of Eric's temper. Salem smiled at her mate, before her smile turned to a scowl and she slapped him across the face. She might've forgiven her mate, but she was still angry at him. At the force of the slap, Eric stumbled slightly and when he looked back at his mate everyone could see the healing burn mark on his cheek from her silver ring.
"I may have forgiven you Northman, but it doesn't mean that I'm not still mad at you. What you did gives me the right to reject the mating bond with you, but I can't because I love you" Salem yelled as tears formed in her eyes.
Godric pulled his mate from his child before Salem could slap him again. Eric got down on his knees in front of his mate and took her hands in his, careful not to touch her rings.
"I am so sorry for what I did, älskling. I never meant to hurt you in anyway. I was weak and I don't deserve to be your mate," Eric said gently squeezing her hands in his much larger ones.
Salem could see how he regretted what he had done. The only reason why neither Eric nor Salem were in constant pain was because they hadn't completed the bond.
