"He didn't!" Cedric looks at me in shock and I notice that his hands are already clenched into fists.
I just told him about the Cormac story and Cedric doesn't think it's funny.
"Yes! Can you imagine that? How stupid does he think I am?
I really should have just listened to you all or my hand wouldn't be burning from the juicy slap I gave him.”I glare at my bright red palm. Cedric jumps up. "He can experience something!"
"Sit down," I laugh, grabbing his hand and pulling him back next to me.
"You don't have to get your hands dirty on him."
"He hurt you and lied to you, Y/n!" he says angrily now, and I have to smile.
"Yes he has. So what? Do you see me crying, Just one tear?”
"Of course not," he snorts and then has to grin.
"That's a good thing, otherwise I'd break him more than he can take."
Cedric has been my best friend for as long as I can remember.
He's a little older than me and we met because our parents work in the same office.
At one of the celebrations, the employees' children were there, and at the time he caught some fireflies for me because I was too slow and clumsy for it.
Since then, our parents have had to meet outside of work, whether they wanted to or not, because Cedric and I have been inseparable ever since.
We still are today. I lean against him and enjoy the sun on my face.
"Then it's not possible. He'll be terribly angry with himself."
"At the latest when he realizes that he has let go of a great woman." Cedric murmurs and puts his arm around me to hug me.
"Thanks." I giggle. "You are the best."
"Sure." He laughs. "If not me, then who else?"
"Come on, I'm hungry," I command, getting up to take him to the Great Hall.
On the way he puts his arm around my shoulders again and I wrap my arm around his waist.
We're almost there when I hear someone yell, "Oh, you accuse me of throwing myself at others and then you break up with me to crawl to Diggory?"
"Cormac, if you don't grow up soon, I'll turn you into a Bang-Blasted Toad," I groan, annoyed.
He's well aware that Cedric and I are just friends, but throughout our so-called relationship he's enjoyed showing off whenever Cedric even gave me a hug to say hello. Or anyone else.
"You're no better than me!" Cormac finally curses.
"I am, I have friends, what do you have? Your blonde isn't with you, what happened there?”
I laugh happily and pull Cedric with me, because he's about to park his fists in McLaggen's face again.
"Oh, and I'm on the Quidditch team. What about you?” I had to push this comment into his face.
Ced laughs next to me and hugs me. "You little beast."
Cormac curses a bit after us, but I have a big grin on my face.
His reaction shows me quite clearly that I've scratched his already much too huge ego quite a bit.
