Chapter 6 - Good Girl Act

Maya's POV

I lean in and capture Y/N's lips onto mine. If I hadn't have had the drink at the bar, I would not have the courage to do this right now. I can't help but kiss them. I've seen them when at work and I try to keep my eyes off them but it just doesn't seem to happen much. I needed to keep myself professional. I can feel the warmth of Y/N's lips on mine. I feel a hand on my shoulder after a second as Y/N gently pushes me back.

"I can't do this. You are drunk. You've had alcohol. It wouldn't be right for me to continue"

"I've barely had a drink. I am thinking straight. Please..."

"Maya, I can't. I would feel bad for taking advantage of you. I can meet up with you after our next shift and we can talk properly"

"But I want this"

"Maya, no. I really can't. You need to sleep. It's been a long day.

"Fine, but can you stay for a while? I don't really want to be alone"

"Yeah. Go get changed into your pjs first and then I'll come and keep you company until you fall asleep and then I will head home. We have a 24 hour shift starting tomorrow morning"

"Ok, I'll shout through when I am ready for bed"

I stand up and head through to my bedroom. As I enter, I open my drawers and grab out a pair of shorts and a vest, going into my bathroom and get changed into my comfier clothes. I brush my teeth whilst trying to get changed. I can hear Y/N walking around in the front room but I don't know what they are doing. Once I am dressed I go back into my bedroom and sit on the edge of the bed.

"Y/N, you can come in now. I'm dressed and ready for bed"

Y/N enters my room and shuts the door behind themselves. They are so tentative and caring. Why the hell did I have to gain a crush on my subordinate. They probably don't even feel the same way about me as I do about them.

"How are you feeling?" Y/N asks me as they sit next to me on my bed.

"I'm ok, are you ok?" I can't even look them in the eye after kissing them.

"I'm fine, I just want you to get some rest and get some sleep ready for our shift tomorrow. We can talk about what happened another time"

Again, so sweet and caring.

"Let's get you tucked into bed and I'll sit here until you fall asleep and then I will let myself out and go home myself"

"Thank you for this... I'm sorry about what happened. Can we at least still be friends?"

"Of course we can. Nothing can stop that unless you do something unforgivable"

I climb into bed and cover myself up properly, closing my eyes. As I am settling down, I feel Y/N lean closer and kiss my forehead. I give a small smile.

"Stay here tonight. It's better than getting home late and not getting as much sleep"

"I don't have any other clothes though. I don't even have any of my bathroom essentials either"

"Take some of mine for tonight and I have a spare toothbrush in the bathroom that you can use"

"I don't want to outstay my welcome here. Are you honestly sure?"

"I'm sure. Nothing will happen. I promise. You can sleep next to me as well. I just... I don't like being alone recently. It's weird. I don't know how to explain it at all. I'm sorry"

"It's ok. I get it. You just want to be held and have everything be ok and feel safe"

"Exactly. Would you please stay?"
