It has now been a month since the charade began, and tonight is a special occasion- the gala celebrating the success of your two agencies. At his house, you prepare for the event, doing your best to make sure you look nice. Then, as you walk out of the bedroom wearing a stunning outfit, Aizawa's eyes fill with a mix of admiration and affection.
"Wow... you look gorgeous," he compliments.
You respond with a playful smile, "Thanks, you clean up pretty good yourself."
He smiles softly and thanks you before asking if you're ready to go. You nod and reach for his hand. As you walk outside, he reminds you that it's the first time your hero friends will see you as a couple, so you need to make sure you act convincingly.
Grinning playfully, you reply, "In that case, we need to show them that we're the best couple they've ever seen," to which he nods rather seriously.
You arrive at the large venue, and the moment your car pulls up to the front, the paparazzi swarm around like flies. Aizawa can see your anxiety, and he offers a comforting whisper. "Hey, it's alright, Y/N. Let's show 'em a real couple."
Confidently, he then offers you his arm for the display, while giving you a small reassuring smile that has your stomach in knots. You can tell he's really trying to make you feel better. Together, you step out of the car, and camera flashes illuminate the night. One paparazzi gets up close to Aizawa, bombarding him with questions about the wedding.
Aizawa sighs, expertly handling the situation, "There isn't a set date yet, though we are anxious to have it done as soon as possible." As he subtly squeezes your arm, reminding you of your role, you play your part with a bright smile. "Yep, can't wait for the honeymoon!" you chime in.
But when you steal a glance at Aizawa, you notice he's not amused. However, with a hint of amusement in his voice, he responds, "Yep, although I'm not sure if you're ready for that yet, love."
The paparazzi flash even more pictures as they watch the two of you interact. One interviewer, catching on to the playful banter, asks, "What were you referring to specifically when you mentioned your honeymoon?"
"Oh, well I just meant that-" you begin, but before you can finish, Aizawa smoothly pushes his way between you and the interviewer, creating a protective barrier with his presence. Without missing a beat, he firmly but politely addresses the paparazzi, "Sorry, but we need to head inside for the event. No more questions for now."
With that, he takes your hand and walks you confidently into the gala, leaving the paparazzi to disperse. Inside, you both charm the crowd with your chemistry and play the part of a picture-perfect couple. Your interactions are seamless, and it's hard to believe that your relationship is a mere charade.
As the evening progresses, Emi Fukukado, with her unmistakable seafoam green hair, approaches the two of you. She expresses her surprise at the idea of Aizawa getting married, given his usual demeanor of being above such matters. Emi then turns to you with a warm smile, introducing herself, "Hi, Y/N. I'm Emi. Nice to meet you."
You respond back politely, despite her slight dig at your date, "Hi, Emi. Nice to meet you too."
Aizawa, who had almost instantly regained his usual seriousness upon seeing Emi, quickly switches back to his professional and kind demeanor. "Emi, nice to see you again. This is my fiancé, Y/N," he introduces you.
Curiously, you then ask Emi if she has a partner at the event tonight, wanting to make conversation.
Emi smiles, "No, I'm here solo tonight. Just mingling and enjoying the evening."
As you engage in friendly conversation with Emi, you can't help but notice how at ease Aizawa seems in her presence. It's evident that they share a long-standing friendship, one that you find both intriguing and slightly intimidating.
You then decide it's best to ditch the conversation with Emi, knowing that staying in her presence might lead to unwanted questions. With a soft smile, you turn to Aizawa and suggest, "Shota, should we go say hi to some of your old students?"
Thankfully, Aizawa picks up on your attempt to escape the conversation and plays along, nodding at Emi before leading you away. "Do you have a preference what student we see first?"
Rolling your eyes playfully, you reply, "Don't be like that. I just thought if we'd stay there any longer, she'd definitely get suspicious if she hasn't already." You then gulp, hoping he doesn't see right through your lie. Honestly, you thought that if you stayed there any longer, there'd be a possibility that Aizawa would be going home with Emi instead.
Aizawa chuckles, noticing your eye roll at his teasing. "Fair point," he concedes, "A couple of my old students are over there. Let's make our way in that direction," he nods a little ways off.
The two students look pleasantly surprised to see Aizawa and you together. Aizawa greets them with his usual calm demeanor, though he can't quite hide a hint of nervousness and you're not sure why. He then introduces you to them, and they politely shake your hand.
The one on the right, Kaminari, suddenly exclaims, "Damn, how'd you bag such a hottie!" Kirishima, on the left, playfully nudges his friend in the shoulder, reprimanding him for his blunt remark.
You smile up at Aizawa softly, not sure how to respond to the sudden awkward comment. Aizawa, slightly annoyed, shakes his head and corrects Kaminari, "She's not a "hottie"; she's my fiance. Show a bit of respect, will you?"
Aizawa then looks back at you and raises an eyebrow, causing your chest to feel hot. However, when Kirishima asks about your ring, you instinctively hide your hands behind your back, feeling slightly flustered by the question. "Oh, um... I didn't want to wear it tonight, you know, to avoid attracting too much attention."
Aizawa smiles softly at your nervous laughter and replies, "You're always so careful, my darling. That's one of the things I love about you." His charismatic tone and affectionate words put you at ease, and you feel a sense of comfort in his presence.
"I think I need a drink," you then say, trying to shake off the tension from earlier.
Aizawa nods at his students, bidding them a good night, and then leads you toward the bar. As you sit down, you can't help but still feel a bit flustered about the ring incident. "I can't believe I left the ring at home. I'm such an idiot," you mutter.
Aizawa places a reassuring hand on yours and says, "It's alright, Y/N. Trust me, I couldn't have come up with a better excuse myself."
Just then, the bartender approaches. "I'll have a whiskey on the rocks," Aizawa tells him before turning towards you. "What drink can I get you, dear?"
"I'll take an apple martini please," you grin softly over at him. He then turns back to the bartender and orders your drink.
After the drinks arrive, Aizawa takes a light sip of his whiskey, then leans back in his seat. "Cheers," you smile before following along.
