Harry's POV:She's all hugged up to some guy. Dave in particular. What am I suppose to say? She wasn't mine. But it sure as hell did hurt.
A pit of awkwardness was set between us. Maybe I shouldn't have come, but I had to. Something told me I needed to.
"Um, come in." Dave said inelegantly.
I stepped inside, though I knew it was a bad idea.
It wasn't too late to turn around. I could walk out, and never see her again, but that'd be too hard to do.
As it is my feet had a mind of themselves.
My trembling hand shut the door behind me as instructed to.
"Sit Harry." He said to me, then stood up from under Stella. "I have school in the morning. See you tomorrow, baby." Followed with a kiss on the forehead.
"Goodnight."
It shouldn't have bothered me as much as it did. I shouldn't have been here. I should leave. It wasn't too late.
Dave passed me as he walked to the door, giving me up and down looks. We were face to face momentarily.
I looked over my shoulder at the back of his head, showing no slight expression. When the door closed as he left, I turned forward towards the sick looking girl.
Stella stared at me with anxious eyes through the dark, her legs pulled up to her chest in attempt to warm herself.
"Hi." I said, stuffing my hands in my pockets.
"Hi." She said, resting her chin on her knees.
I sheepishly stood there. What was I suppose to say now?
Should I go?
She patted the cushion next to her on the couch.
It was then I realized I was standing in front of the TV, the only light giving away every move in the room.
I sat next to her, slouching a bit. My head was at the height of her shoulders. My eyes scanned across the tv bored, and a sigh came from my parted lips.
"You can change it if you'd like to." She said trying to sound welcoming.
Notice how I said 'Trying'?
She sounded scared.
"No. No, I'm alright."
Stella sat up straight, leaning back in her seat in alarm, and stiff. While I, on the other hand made myself at home, kicking my shoes off quiet and efficiently, then tilted my head back up at the ceiling.
The ceiling was naturally white, but blue from the tv light.
"So... You and Dave... Eh?" Was all I could thing about for starting a conversation.
I glanced at her, who looked down, then back up at the ceiling.
After a few seconds, I felt her eyes move to my face.
"No."
"What about the, 'bye, baby' and the-"
"No."
I sounded naive and childish but maybe it was relevant.
My eyes later shifted to her as she stared at me coldly.
"He's gay."
That was uncalled for in so many ways. So they weren't dating!
But after all, she still could've had a boyfriend.
