-Oliver’s POV-

I can’t help but smile at the mere thought of Logan staying by me the entire time I’m in the hospital. It’s been two weeks since I was beaten close to death and the time really has sped by. I’ve received counseling and therapy throughout my time here and Connor, the one that I still fear was arrested and there is no chance I will run into him for 20 to 25 years.

Lyla even came by a few times to visit me, and when she would come a nice iced coffee would be in her hands full of creamer, sugar, and vanilla. She would alway bring up how excited she was that I’m gonna be coming back to work soon. Logan would always smile as he stared at me when she would walk in, I guess my smile was contagious.

But as happy as them visiting me in this hospital, I’m scared that all of that will end as soon as they release me from here today. Thanks to advancements in medicine a wound that would take months to treat would take a few short weeks. I’m at 100% once again my leg, hip, ribs, and arm are now fully healed. In all honesty I kinda wish our society didn’t have some of these advances, simply because I wanted to enjoy having people that actually cared about me around.

As my thoughts run rampant in my mind the door to my room opens and to no surprise it’s Logan once again. “Hey Oliver, aren’t you excited about being able to go home? I know you won’t miss the food around here.” I chuckle a bit as I answer him, “you got that right. I am a little nervous honestly.” He looks at me a bit shocked as he then says, “oh, why is that?” I take a deep breath then slowly exhale before answering, “well I’ve come to enjoy having great company, and I’m kinda scared that once I’m out we will drift apart again.”

Logan looks at me with a slight smile, “Oliver, that will never happen. I promise you I will come and see you as much as I can.” I look into his eyes and I can tell that he isn’t lying to me about that promise. I smile at him, “thanks Logan I think that’s what I really wanted.” He smiles at me then pulls out a plastic bag, “oh I got you some clothes like I promised I would, and I put your key back in the bag.” He places the bag on my lap and I lean up and start looking through the bag. I smile once I see my favorite hoodie, a pair of black sweatpants, a pair of socks, my vans, and even a pair of underwear. I blush a bit as I stand up with the bag in my hand. “Will you excuse me while I change really quickly?” Logan nods as I dash into the bathroom so I can change.

Once I’m changed I notice something left in the bag. I pull out a small elongated black box. “Hey Logan, I think you put something of yours in this bag?” I walk out of the bathroom while holding the bag in one hand and the small black box in the other. I hold the box out towards him as I say, “I think you put this in here as a mistake.” He looks at the box in my hand and quickly answers, “oh no that’s yours. I got you a little gift, go ahead and open it.” I smile at him as I open the box. Shock comes across my face as I see a slender silver chain necklace with a black paw print charm.

“Logan this is beautiful but you didn’t have to buy me anything.” He smiles back at me as he rubs the back of his neck. “It’s nothing Oliver, I just wanted to show you even though I’m not physically there with you, that I will be there for you.” A tear of joy rolls down my cheek as I pull the chain from the box. “Would you like me to put it on for you?” I nod to Logan as he then walks up behind me while pulling the necklace around my neck slowly.

As he fastened the chain on my neck the door to the room opened once again, but this time it was the doctor. “Oh you're up and ready to go today, that’s great because you're officially discharged. I’m sure that Logan here wouldn’t mind at all taking you home.” I look at Logan and he smirks at the doctor, “not at all, that’s kinda why I got here a little early.” The doctor nods then says, “alrighty Oliver don’t forget to take your medicine, like we talked about.” I nod to the doctor then say, “I will, I promise. Thanks for everything you have done for me.” He nods then says, “now take care of yourself.” I nod to him as he then walks back out the same door.

Logan steps just in front of me, “so you ready to go?” I take a deep breath and smile, “yeah I’m ready.” Logan nods then gently grabs the bag out of my hand. “Alrighty let’s get going,” He walks in front of me and shows me the way out of the hospital. He helps me up into his SUV then gets into the driver's side. Once he cranks up the car he drives me towards my apartment. “So I’ve been meaning to ask you about something.” Logan asks as he stares out at the road as he drives. “Oh, what is it?” I replied back to him. “Do you have a cell phone? I’ve just realized that this entire time I haven’t seen you on one, or even asked me for my number.” I nod, “I don’t have a cell phone, I used to but I had to get rid of it. I couldn’t afford a whole new place, without canceling my cable, internet, and my phone. There was also the fact that Connor kept calling, texting, and facetiming me.”

Logan looks a bit shocked but nods as he takes a left at the stop light. “Uhm Logan you turned the wrong way my apartment was on the right.” He shakes his head, “no I’m taking you to get you a phone. You need one in case of emergencies so you can get a hold of me.” I look at him, “but I can’t afford one Logan.” He looks at me as he stops at another stop light, “I didn’t ask that, and you're gonna be on my plan at least until you get on your feet.” I smile at him and quickly say, “you don’t have to do that, I can always use a payphone that's at the end of the block.”

Logan shakes his head as he looks back at the road, “that won’t due Oliver.” He pulls into a pear store then looks at me, “I hope you like pear phones.” He pulls the key out of the ignition and gets out of the car. He then walks around and opens the door for me. “Now we are gonna go in here and I’m gonna follow you around the store so I can hide the price tags from you.” I’m shocked to hear what he just said, but before I can protest he ushers me in the store.

We looked around the store until a nice blue pear shaped phone on one of the displays. As I look at it Logan honors his word and quickly hides the price from me. “Do you like this one?” I nod to him as he smiles, “nice choice I have the same model.” I smile as he quickly gets a worker over. A short pause later the worker comes out with the very same phone I was just looking at. Both Logan and I sit at a table as he goes over the installation of the sim card and everything. He then starts to say a price but Logan quickly cuts him off, “Oh I’m not worried about the price. Here is my debit card. Please run it without saying the total please.” I look at Logan a bit flustered as he sits there with a smirk on his face.

Once everything is put together and the worker hands him his card back the worker hands me the phone. “There you go sir hope you and your boyfriend have a wonderful day.” Logan and I both blush as we say in unison, “no he isn’t my…” Before we can finish we look each other in the eyes. I look down at my feet then say, “thank you Logan.” I hear him take a breath before saying, “You're very welcome Oliver, now let’s get you home.” I nod at him as we get back into his vehicle and drive back to my place.

Before I get out of the car I look at Logan, “so can I have your number now?” He laughs, “of course you can.” I hand him my phone and he quickly types in his number, “there you go. Now text me whenever you need to talk.” I nod, “thank you again Logan I really do appreciate it.” He nods then watches me as I walk up the stairs and this time safely enter my apartment. I look out the window and watch as he slowly pulls out of the vehicle and as he does so he looks up towards my apartment. I can’t really explain why, but when I’m around him I feel this security that I never really felt before. I hope that the two of us grow even closer than we have the past two weeks.
