Writing this to 'The Exit'

Not my favourite Cone song, but it's up there. What's your favourite Conan song? Lemme know!

Pure fluffiness. Hope you don't mind <3

Major references/cameos to Conan's music videos and songs here. Try and spot them!

"Where do you wanna go?" Conan asks me as we walk down the street. His hand brushes mine and he jerks back subtly before relaxing.

"Erm... maybe The Flat? I think they're open this late..." I suggest, rummaging through my purse for a $20 note. Conan grabs my wrist, pulling me around the corner with a harsh yank, "HEY WHAT THE-" He presses a finger to my mouth.

"Just be quiet for a second" He looks around the corner, waiting for a moment, "they're gone now, but we should stay here for a little while in case." He looks back at me, his curly bangs falling in his face. There's a little fear in his eyes that seems to dissolve away as they meet mine Impulsively, I lean forward and brush them back, feeling his skin heat up as my fingertips brush his cheeks.

"Erm- who?! Conan now's not the time to tell me that you've been a secret Mafia boss the whole time! What will come of your reputation?" I joke, and he gives me a small, soft laugh in return. It's small but it's enough to make a cold, rainy day feel suddenly warm and sunny.

"Hah, no. I wouldn't dare become a Mafia boss in fear of catching affluenza!" Conan winks exaggeratedly, and the pair of us burst into childish laughter, "No but seriously. There were some fans of mine who'd spotted me. Usually, I'd say hi but..."

"You can go say hi, I don't mind!" I smile cheerily at him, but he shakes his head, his curls bouncing.

"I don't really want to," he looks down at the ground with crimson cheeks, "I kinda just wanna chill with you for a bit. I always love talking to admirers, but I feel like we never get to hang out alone."

"O-ok," I reply, "So do you still wanna get that coffee?"

Conan checks around the corner again and looks back at me,

"Sounds great, teddy bear!" He takes my hand in his and pulls me "The Flat, right?"

"Yeah," I blush at the grip of his hands. His hands are veiny and strong, and soft but calloused. I don't even think he's really registering what he's doing to me, but I stay quiet, shamefully enjoying it. I try to keep up with him, quickening my pace but struggling, my heels slamming rapidly against the pavement.

We arrive pretty quickly, and Conan pushes the swinging door open. A young waitress greets us, glancing down at our interlocked hands.

"Private table for two?" he suggests, pointing to a booth but still staring at our hands. Conan realises that he's holding my hand with shock. But he doesn't let go, he only shifts his hands to interlock our fingers, and that brings a certain warmth to my chest.

"Perfect, thanks, Jace!" Conan smiles at him politely, sliding over to the table. It's warmly lit in here, the lights pouring over us and we move under them to sit at the booth. The seats are made of plush, aqua velvet-like fabric, and I slide onto the seat. The whole place is decorated with detailed wooden carvings or flowers and symbols. Potted plants are hung from the ceilings and walls, their shadows dancing across the tiled floor. Jace follows us over, handing us the cafe menu without a word. Only then does Conan release my hand, pulling the menu close to his chest, "I'm doubting my plan to not get anything but coffee..."

I observe the menu too, retracting my hand and flipping the page over, immediately coming across several delicious dessert options.

"What are you thinking?" I ask, my stomach rumbling at the very image of the decadent chocolate sundae.

"Hate me for choosing the vegan, gluten-free option, but the ginger-caramel fudge cake sounds freaking amazing!" He points to an image on the menu, and I nod "You wanna share?"

"If you don't mind!" I blush, "With an iced coffee?"

In perfect timing, Jace returns with a notepad and fluffy blue ball-topped pen and a blue apron.

"You both ready to order?" He asks, his hand clenching his pen aggressively.

"Yeah," Conan replies, "Can we have one of the ginger-caramel fudge cakes?"

"Mmm-hmm"

"And two of the iced coffees~" Conan smiles brightly, his hand reaching for mine again,

"Is there anything else that you'd like?" Jace asks, his eyes growing jealous. I can feel his resentful gaze pierce the surface of my skin.

"I think we're all good, right?" Conan looks over at me, and I nod silently, not looking up from the table, terrified of Jace's glare.

"So," Jace says, passing our order to a co-worker, "Who are you?"

I look up and meet his eyes.

"Uhm... Y/n..."

"She's really pretty, isn't she?!" Conan gushes, "We met a few months back. She's one of my best friends already!"

"Aw, how sweet," Jace says, the sarcasm dripping off his words like venom, "I should warn you, y/n, Connie here has commitment issues~" he chuckles to himself.

"That doesn't matter to me. I don't see why I would care, actually, let alone why you brought it up," I say matter-of-factly, "But erm, nice meeting you Jace."

"Well, I better go... make your drinks." He walks off grumpily.

"Man," Conan sighs, "What did I tell you? They all go crazy for me~"

I burst into giggles, earning another cold glare from Jace.

"What the heck was he so dang annoyed about?" I laugh.

"I think he's jealous. He asked me out when I was having brunch with a friend and I said no. He's probably just salty about that. And jealous of you!" Conan replies, shooting a quick glance over at Jace who's making our drinks sulkily.

"No need for him to be so jealous of me!" I laugh and Conan hums,

"Hmm, I think that he was jealous of me holding your hand."

"Hmm, I bet he'd have been even more jealous if he saw the events that occurred on our little night drive the other day~" the words shoot out of my mouth, and as soon as they're out I practically groan with regret. Conan's eyes widen, but we're quickly interrupted by a large plate being placed in front of us, as well as two glasses filled to the brim with hazelnut-coloured liquid and ice which clink loudly against the table. Jace doesn't even speak, turning away quickly, the angst radiating off him.

Conan and I can't help but exchange a look that leads to Conan snorting with laughter while I try to calm him down but fail desperately and end up clutching my stomach with tears of laughter streaming down my cheeks.

I hug him close,

"Text me whenever you can!" I plead, and he nods.

"Of course! Ugh, I hate that we live in the same city but can barely ever see each other!" he groans.

"I know, but it'll be worth it. With your new album and my work, we're both under a lot of pressure, but in a few months, we'll get a break. If I'm lucky, I might get to come on tour with you if you want?" I offer, and Conan's eyes light up.

"Really?! That'd be so cool! That's if people like the new album, that it..."

"Of course, they will!" I laugh dismissively as if his suggestion is preposterous, because really- it is, "They loved all of your singles, so obviously, they're going to love the album... as long as you keep bringing the same NES energy."

"What d'ya mean?"

"Well, obviously Never Ending Song is just a plain bop, but also- you're freaking hot both singing and performing it, but every time I see that music video I have to stop what I'm doing and watch, because you're so hot, and the video's really just plain awesome."

"Haha, you're cute. I love you so insanely much teddy bear, you have no idea," He sighs into my neck, sending chills down my spine, "you're amazing."

"I love you too."
