Holly knew how things were hard for Cal since he had found out Matilda wasn't his. She knew that it was hard. She missed the little girl more than she would admit to Cal.

She kept it quiet how she was feeling about it due to not wanting to upset Cal. She felt as though he would be pissed with her.

She knew that there was something going on with him. He had been quiet and shut off. And she wanted to somehow make it better.

She felt like he was missing Matilda.  But they wouldn't be able to get her back. Social services had told them that they wanted to find someone outside of the family.

She knew that her sister and Iain had gotten close to Matilda. And they were upset that they weren't allowed to keep her.

Matilda had changed all of their lives. And she wasn't even there anymore. She had changed it all.

Cal was broken. And holly didn't know how to help him. She couldn't take away the pain.  She felt as though it was going to take a long time before they got over the heartbreak that this was.

Holly knew how Cal had been focusing all his attention on Emilie. And making sure she was happy.

All that Holly knew was that things had changed. And it wasn't good. Holly just wanted to make things work out for her little family.

But it wasn't going to be easy. Something needed to make it better. But what?

Morning came all too quickly for her. She sighed as she woke in bed. Cal was there. She smiled. "Hey. Are you okay?" She asked.

Cal nodded. He sighed. "I'm fine. Don't worry about me."

"You can talk to me babe. I know you're struggling with what's happened. But you can talk to me. I'm here for you. And I love you," Holly told him.

Cal said nothing as he climbed out of bed. He left the bedroom leaving Holly there. She sighed as she followed him.

She found him in Emilie's room. "I know you're hurting over this. But you don't have to shut me off. Please. I love you. I understand what you're going through."

Holly went into work. Cal had taken another day off. Holly saw Lexi and sighed. "I think Cal is blaming me for what happened. It's like it's my fault. I wanted to keep her. But i can't override the social workers."

Lexi sighed. "The social worker has said that they're going to take her tonight. They've found someone who can give her everything. And they've said no one can contact her," she said.

Holly frowned as she looked to her. "They're taking her tonight? I wasn't expecting that," she told her.

"I know. It will be okay. She's going to be going to a good home. It's gonna be okay."

Holly wasn't convinced. She felt as though it was all too much. And she didn't know how to cope with it all.

After a gruelling few hours, Holly's shift had finished. She walked into the flat to see Cal. She sighed as she looked to him. "Social services are taking Matilda today. They've found her a foster home until she can be adopted."

Cal said nothing as he turned and walked off. Holly knew how he was struggling. But she didn't want him to push her away. She just had no idea how things were going to take a turn for the worse.
