Holly knew how things had been since social services had taken Matilda. She knew that things with Cal had been so hard. But they were trying to make it work out.

She knew he had been trying. He had been trying to make things right. But she didn't know what else they could do. She knew that while it wasn't always easy, Holly appreciated the effort.

She wanted it work for Emilie's sake. She was what mattered most of all. And she needed to make it work out for her.  She knew that it was all too much.

Holly lay in bed with Cal that morning. He looked to her and sighed. "I know I've been a jerk. But I want to make us work. I love you. And I love Emilie," he told her.

"I know you do babe. And I know this whole thing with Matilda has really messed with your head. But I just, I don't want you to push me away," Holly told her.

Cal tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear. He kissed her lips. "Let me make it up to you," he said as he moved between her legs.

"I want to lose myself in you," Holly said as her eyes never left his as he pulled her beneath him.

Cal smiled. "I'm pretty sure it's me who loses myself in you," he said.

Cal smiled, lowering himself enough to kiss her, while still allowing space between them for her hand to continue to stroke him.

"I love you," Holly panted when his lips moved to her neck and hand cupped her breast, thumb grazing her nipple.

His mouth engulfed the other, tongue swirling her hardened nub as the hand previously on her breast trailed lower, slipping between her legs, dipping into her warmth.

Holly's breathing became heavy, her free hand gripping into his hair when his fingers moved to tease her clit.

"I need you..." She groaned, tugging his lips back to hers as her back arched and hips bucked against his fingers. "Please." The plea sounded strained as her body worked against her.

Cal settled himself between her legs, removing her hand from him as he lined up with her entrance.

Both of her hands were either in his hair or on his cheek, keeping his mouth close to hers as he eased in. Her breath hitched as he bottomed out and his body pressed flush against hers.

"I could stay like this forever," He purred, pulling back just enough to look at her.

"It's almost a shame we can't," Holly said as she kissed him. .

Cal smirked, his hand cupping her cheek as he pulled out leaving just his tip, then thrust back into her.

"This is somehow better though..." She moaned, pulling his lips back to hers while ignoring the smug smile spreading across his face.

He continued to push into her, taking his time as they had all day. It may have been a Wednesday morning, and he was tired. But he wanted to make Holly feel special. He knew how he had been making her feel lately.

"Fuck..." Holly groaned as his pace picked up, her hips grinding against his.

Her head was the first to arch back, then her body as her hips stilled against his, she could feel every inch of him moving inside her as she tightened around him.

Cal grunted against her neck, holding back as long as he could before giving into his own release, his full weight coming to rest on top of her.

"I love you too," he said.

Holly went into work with Cal. He kissed her and walked off. Lexi walked over and smiled. "Hey. How you doing?" She asked.

Holly nodded. "It's okay. Well I think it's okay. We had sex this morning. So I just don't know. I want to make it work. For Emilie's sake. But this whole Matilda thing has really messed his head up," she told her.

Lexi smiled. "If it helps, social services called. And they said Matilda has settled in well. She's thriving," she said.

"Good. That's good. I just... I don't know."

Lexi took her hand she smiled and held her hand. "You're gonna be okay. I know you are. You and Cal are strong enough to make it through," she told her.

Holly was sitting in the staffroom. She looked to see Iain as he walked in. "Hey. You okay?" He asked.

Holly nodded. "I'm okay. Just things are messy," she told him. She smiled. "I appreciate you. what you did, taking her in."

Iain smiled. "You're my family. I wanna help you anyway that I can. You and Cal are strong enough to make it work," he said.

"Thanks. I just hope we can figure it out. But I'm not going to give up making my family work," Holly said.

But would it really be as simple as what she was thinking?
