! CHAPTER EIGHT !
The Murillo household was temporarily at full capacity as Nick, Darlene, and Elena filled the living room with themselves and an assortment of blankets and pillows. They stared worryingly at the television as the Texas Chainsaw Massacre blared from the television. Nick sat on the ground curled in a ball. She kept her hand hovering just below her eyes in case she needed to cover up quickly.Psycho Darlene watched the movie excitedly, leaning forward in anticipation. It was very different from how she usually was, an everyday scaredy cat. Elena lazily tried to hold her eyes open, obviously uninterested and unphased.
When the jump scare came, an array of different reactions were passed around the room. Nick shouted, shutting her eyes quickly and keeping them sealed tight. Darlene laughed and threw her head back happily. Elena... well, she blinked.
"Okay, I'm turning it off. I can't anymore." Nick shot up from her seat and grabbed the remote from the coffee table.
"Wh- hello! What are you doing?!"
"D.A. you know how I feel about horror movies."
"Then close your eyes! We were watching that, right?" Darlene flipped her attention to Elena who had finally opened her eyes fully. She glanced between the girls.
"Watching what?" She looked visibly tired, bags riddled the nether regions of her eyes along with a slight redness from constant rubbing.
Darlene deadpanned defeatedly. "You are no help."
"And you belong in a nut house. Elena, are you sure you don't want to go home? Nothing is keeping you here." Nick wondered to the girl. She had been in and out for the last two hours and it was starting to get a little concerning.
Wincing and clearly embarrassed, Elena sat up from her seat. "Are you guys sure? I don't want to harsh the mood." She responded gingerly.
Darlene barked out a laugh. "Are you kidding? I have too much of a sunny disposition for your bad mood to make a dent."
