Time

I watched the sunset remembering all those hours spent running freely in the forest, ignorant of the bitter truth of life.

Ignorance was bliss indeed, my mind was free of stress, my heart pure and innocent like an angel.

Now here I am today, years later, standing in the same place but with a heart badly bruised.

My mind clouded with thousands of problems, seemingly endless.

My wings burned leaving me grounded to the earth.

My eyes heavy from constant inner battles with my demons.

Sadness and regret engulfing my whole soul leaving a painful ache in my heart.

Time slipped through my fingers like sand and I failed to realise how precious it was until I had little left.

Now I stand here, cherishing my childhood memories before I take my last breath...
