It's barely been a day since Severus visited Lucius at the cave. The Potions Master can't help but feel worried about his friend... He never leaves the cave, he barely talks to anyone and sometimes he almost refuses to eat. What should he do? What can he do?

Sighing, he abandons the stack of papers to be graded and decides to go for a walk. He decides to head to Muggle London where nobody knows him so he can stay with his thoughts without anybody interrupting him.

As he walks around while being deep in thought with his dilemmas about Lucius, he suddenly spots a pretty Muggle woman who just left the nearby book shop. She's pretty and she likes books - the perfect type for Lucius.

He decides to follow her around in order to figure out if she's a local - that way, he will be able to find her again. As it's clear to him that she is in fact local, he makes a mental note to tell Lucius about her during their next visit.

He decides to visit him the next day. And he decides to do so in his Animagus form. As Lucius is just standing in front of a mirror with no reflection, clearly miserable, Severus flies on top of his shoulder. When Lucius spots the animal in the mirror, he chuckles.

"You know what? I think I can get used to this. I like these adorable visits- Yes, I called you adorable, do not cut your wrists" he quickly says when he remembers his friend's warning last time.

The bat rolls its eyes at him before handing him a hairbrush by its feet. Lucius sighs. "What's the point when I can't look at myself anymore?" he complains, but the bat is insisting.

Chuckling to himself, Lucius gives in and starts brushing his hair for the first time in a while. He can't help but shed a tear.

"I can't believe this is making me emotional, how pathetic... Oh, will you look at that, I almost sound like you now" he slightly teases. The bat huffs at that. Nonetheless, Severus is glad that his friend hasn't completely lost his humour.

Once Lucius is done brushing his hair, Severus returns to his human form. "I've been thinking... How about you start seeing other people? I know you aren't fond of Muggles, but I think I've found someone suitable for you-" he starts just as he's interrupted.

"First off, I don't dislike Muggles like I used to... The war has taught me something. And second, the answer is no. It's bad enough that you have to see me like this, Sev. I can't meet whoever you think you've found" Lucius refuses.

He's sure that the Muggle would be turned off by his current state anyway. And what if she found out that he's a vampire? That would certainly scare her away!

Severus opens his mouth before closing it again, sighing in defeat. Maybe he will convince him one day...
______________________________

A few days after his friend's visit, Lucius is sitting on the cold ground in his cave, bored to death. What should he do? There's nothing to do here! Nobody to talk to...

Perhaps Severus is right. Maybe he does need to see other people. But who would talk to him while he looks the way he does? Sick and undead...

He feels his sharp teeth with a finger. He then curses Azrael for doing this to him! For turning him into a vampire!

Having had enough of being alone with his thoughts, Lucius decides to go for a walk. It's nighttime after all, so he will be safe as there's no sunlight outside that will burn him. He apparates to Muggle London - who knows, maybe he will spot this pretty Muggle woman that Severus told him about? He knows that won't happen, but a little hope won't kill him.

As he walks around in the dark streets of Muggle London and gets some long-wanted fresh air, he suddenly hears somebody scream for help. As there seems to be no one else nearby, he decides to help. Might at least make himself useful now that he's finally outside.

He hurries towards the screams - it's a young woman who's being attacked by a drunk man.

"No, huh? Take this then, you stupid bitch!" the man slurs as he hits her head with a beer bottle. The glass breaks into several pieces and leaves the girl unconscious on the ground, bleeding from her head.

As the drunk man unzips his pants, Lucius makes a movie. Having had no interactions with other humans than Severus, his vampire instincts kick in rather than his wizard instincts. He approaches the man and bares his sharp teeth, growling at him. That seems to scare him off.

"Bloody hell, a zombie?! I knew the apocalypse was coming!" he shouts. He then runs away in an instant, falling a few times in the process from his drunken state.

Meanwhile, Lucius is standing there, raising an eyebrow. Zombie? That Muggle has clearly never encountered a zombie...

Shaking off the thought, Lucius checks on the girl. She's still unconscious... She can't stay here all alone, she needs help!

As he takes in her appearance, he suddenly realises who she is. She's the Muggle woman that Severus told him about!

He barely gets to process it as he can smell that there are others nearby. They aren't Muggles nor wizards... Not zombies either. They are vampires...

Acting quickly, Lucius shields the girl from the approaching vampires, baring his teeth at them. He hisses in warning, letting them know that they can't have the girl.

There are five of them against him. The others hiss back, not giving up. As one of them tries to attack, Lucius hits him. That seems to scare them off a bit, but they still won't step down.

Lucius realises that he can't fight all of them - he needs to bring the girl to safety! He gently grabs her and apparates back to his cave before the vampires can attack.

"Wizard" one of the vampires hisses as they disappear. They clearly aren't happy that their meal for tonight disappeared. They always prefer fresh, young blood...

At the cave, Lucius quickly puts the girl onto his bed. He examines her injury - she's still bleeding from her head! He slaps himself when he gets the urge to drink her blood. Stupid idiot, not now! This woman needs your help!

He conjures everything he needs for her wounds. He stops the bleeding before he bandages the cut. He quickly uses Depulso to get rid of any excess bandage with fresh blood on. He takes a deep breath and counts to ten. Don't bite her, don't bite her...

Once he has calmed down, he takes a look at her. She's even prettier than how Severus described her. She looks really peaceful and innocent while unconscious.

He thinks about it for a while and decides that she should stay with him until she wakes up. He is lonely after all, so he definitely won't mind the company. However, he doesn't want her to see where he lives... What won't she think of him? Besides, he doesn't want her to know what he is... That is, if he can avoid it.

As he keeps thinking, he gets an idea - Malfoy Manor, of course! That's perfect! Narcissa and Draco moved away after the war. Too many bad memories there...

He apparates outside his old home with the girl in his arms. Taking a deep breath, he enters what he used to call home. It brings back many memories, both good and bad ones...

He carries her to one of the rooms. He wandlessly casts a cleaning spell so the room isn't so dusty. He gently puts her down on the bed and tucks her in.

He watches her for a while before deciding to let Severus know by owl what has happened... He will need his friend's help. Besides, he needs help with cleaning this place as there are no house elves to do it for him.

He wonders how the girl will react when she wakes up...
