It was a late Thursday afternoon; Nicole was sitting at the bottom of the steps with a bored look on her face. Many ideas ran through Nicole's mind of how she should spend her day, but since she had already done what she was thinking she didn't want to do the same thing again.

As Nicole continued to sit on the step she suddenly looked up, right into the kitchen Nicole noticed her grandmother Lena in the kitchen getting ready to bake a cake. Nicole got up from the step and made her way to the kitchen to watch her grandmother do what she does best.

Nicole watched as her grandmother slowly added each ingredient to the mixer. Once all the ingredients were all evenly mixed, Lena then added the cake batter into two cake pans. Then as she placed them into a hot oven, a thought popped into Nicole's head.

Now Nicole knew that she was too young to use the stove and other appliances without the permission of the adult. The thought that Nicole had been that she wanted to do what her grandmother had just done. "Hey, Grandma, can you teach me how to do what you just did?" says Nicole. Grandma Lena replied, Sure, just give me a few minutes to clean up, and we will make some chocolate cupcakes together. "Oh boy, I can't wait," says Nicole.

Once Grandma Lena cleaned the kitchen and took the cakes out the oven that she baked earlier to cool, Lena, placed more ingredients on the table including a little apron that was going to fit Nicole perfectly. "Nicole, are you ready to bake those cupcakes," said Lena. Nicole came running into the kitchen. "Yes, I am," says Nicole with a smile on her face.

The two of them began to bake they both washed their hands then put on they're matching aprons. Grandma Lena let Nicole carefully put each ingredient into the mixer. After everything was mixed, Grandma Lena poured the batter into cupcake pans, and there was enough batter to make eighteen cupcakes.

Once the pans were all full, Grandma Lena then placed each pan into the oven, then turned on the light in the oven, so Nicole could watch the cupcakes bake. Time went by Nicole thought about the taste of the cupcakes in her mouth along with a cold glass of milk.

About twenty-five minutes later, Grandmother Lena put on her oven mitts, opened the oven door, and took the cupcakes out. She places each pan on a cooling rack. After the cupcakes were cooled off, Nicole and Grandma Lena frosted the cupcakes using two different types of frosting. Nicole used chocolate and Grandma Lena used vanilla.

After the two of them finished, Nicole just had to ask. "Grandma, can I taste just one?" Grandma Lena replied, Since no one is home I guess you can have one". Nicole reached for the one with the extra frosting on it and took a huge bite. "Grandma, maybe we should open a restaurant," says Nicole.
