The young hybrid was out of breath as he turned the corner and found himself in front of a bakery. He had been running to escape a group of kids who had seen Beomgyu's tail and kept violently pulling on it and teasing him for crying.

Beomgyu was panicking and trying to catch his breath. He couldn't help but wonder what he had done to deserve this sort of punishment, as he stood in front of the building, trying to think of his next move.

It was then, like an angel, Taehyun had appeared. The male was running an errand for his mother, holding a bag of baked goods when he saw the boy standing there and breathing heavily.

"Are you alright?" Taehyun asked, taking note of Beomgyu's dirt covered clothes and flushed appearance.

When's the last time someone asked me this? The eight year old wondered. Holding back tears he shook his head, and Taehyun immediately grabbed his hand, pulling him into the alleyway beside the bakery.

"Hey! Let him go he has rabies!" One of the kids who had finally caught up spoke.

"You guys are mean." Taehyun took one of the pastries he had gotten for himself and handed it to Beomgyu.

"If you're so scared of him then why are you here? You guys are cowards. All three of you chasing one innocent person is wrong."

The three kids were a bit flustered but that only fueled their anger. They were about to retaliate when Taehyun's mother called out for the boy. She had come looking for Taehyun since he had taken so long when they lived so close.

"What are you still doing out here?"

At the sound of all adult voice the three kids scrambled to leave. Taehyun we glad, even with his courage he knew he couldn't fight three people off.

"Mom they were chasing my friend."

"You already made a friend Hyun? I'm so proud of you. Bring him inside!"

The woman didn't spare a second glance at Beomgyu's hybrid features and words couldn't explain the relief that bloomed within his heart.

Taehyun had just moved into the neighborhood, and found himself a friend within the one hour he had left the house. Beomgyu on the other hand was holding back his excitement. He'd never had a friend before.

Growing up together had made the two practically inseparable. Beomgyu couldn't help but hyperfixate on all of Taehyun's generous actions. Taehyun had been the one to fend off Beomgyu's bullies each time without fail, and constantly reassure him that nothing was wrong with him just because he was different.

On the hybrid's saddest days, he was there to lend a shoulder for Beomgyu to cry on. And the times when Beomgyu couldn't afford to eat, Taehyun was there with extra food to spare.
