"(Y/n)! Over there!" Cedric yelled.
You turned to see the snitch not too far away from your reach.
"On it!"
"Come on, guys! We're not losing this match!" Cedric beckoned as the rest of the Quidditch team replied with a firm 'Yes, sir'.
In no less than a week was the most awaited Quidditch match between Hufflepuff and Slytherin.
You and the team had been preparing for this day since the start of the school year. This was finally the chance to prove Hufflepuffs were no weaker than Slytherins or any house in that matter.
"Got it!" You yelled, floating down with the snitch in your hand.
"Alright (Y/n)! We might actually have a chance this year!" One of your teammates cheered.
"It's almost the big day, you all better prepare yourselves." Cedric laughed.
"Yes, sir!"
-----
The night before the game, you had a hard time sleeping, excited for the big day.
Just then, an owl perched by your windowsill and gave a light tap, opening the window.
"Oh, hey fella." You whispered, careful not to wake the others.
The owl dropped a note on your bed as you stared.
"For me?"
It blinked.
You picked it up and started reading.
(Y/n),
Good morning. It's the big day. Just so you know, I'm still rooting for you. (Despite my team going against yours.)
I didn't mean to bother you, I know it's late at night. I just couldn't sleep so I thought I'd leave this for you to read in the morning.
All the best, good luck today.

'Well I'll be damned.' You breathed out a giggle.
Mysterious 'S' person,
I'm still awake to your dismay. Hello to you too. I'm actually really scared for tomorrow's match. I don't want to let anyone down.
What if I don't meet their expectations? Gosh, why am I ranting on a piece of parchment.
I need sleep honestly. You should too, stop overworking yourself. I'll see you tomorrow.
-(Y/n)
You sent it off and tucked yourself into bed.
Soon enough you had fallen asleep with your window left open. Another piece of parchment was placed next to your pillow..
(Y/n),
Goodnight. You've got this.

[Severus pov]
I took my seat at the stadium as I quietly watched the game start.
Today was the day. The day my house was going against (Y/n)'s.
Truth be told, this might be the first time I've ever slightly wanted my house to lose.
Who? Me? Biased?
No.
That's preposterous.
The game started as I saw the Hufflepuff team fly out, following the Slytherins. I quickly caught a glimpse of (Y/n) before I turned my attention back to my own team.
"Enjoying the show, Severus?" Minerva asked me.
"Yes, indeed." I replied.
I watched as the seekers start going after the snitch, keeping my eye on (Y/n).
Suddenly, a bludger went flying towards (Y/n). Luckily, she ducked quick enough and the bludger only hit her broom and she was not hurt, holding on tightly.
'Merlin, why is my team actually good.' I cursed. 'You guys have to lose please.'
At that moment, I gave a silent laugh.
Shit, I was biased.
-----
"And Hufflepuff wins!" (Y/n) caught the snitch as she nearly tumbled off her broom.
Most people cheered, whilst Slytherins all boo-ed.
I, for the first time ever, found myself smiling at her and clapping.
"Who are you and what have you done with Severus?" Minerva questioned.
"What? Is one not allowed to enjoy some good Quidditch?"
"Your house lost."
"Ah."
Just then, I saw (Y/n) looking my way, giving me a smile as she mouthed,
'I did it.'
-----
After the game, (Y/n) had been celebrating in her common room, resulting in her knocking on my office door rather late.
"Congratulations, (Y/n)."
"Thank you, Professor." She replied, sitting on my desk as she swung her legs back and forth. "You smiled in public today, freaked everyone out."
"Did I really?"
"Cedric came up to me after, being all 'Merlin (Y/n)! Did you see Professor Snape today?! He smiled!'" She snickered.
"How did you respond?"
"I just told him he was hallucinating."
"Did he buy it?"
"I mean.. I think so."
I sat down in my seat as I took a sip from my new mug.
"Do you like it?" (Y/n) asked me, turning around to face me.
"The mug or the coffee?"
"Both."
"They're both amazing." I replied, receiving a giggle from the Hufflepuff on the table.
"I have to go, my curfew's almost up." She said. "I'll see you in Potions tomorrow?"
"Will do. Please attempt to pay attention this time, you don't want to fail."
"Alright, alright." She sighed, getting off my desk as she headed to the door. "Goodnight, Professor."
"Goodnight, (Y/n)."
I took another sip of my coffee.
How could I help this girl with her grades..
