Lilly's POV
Finally! The day I have been waiting for my whole life. I was getting a new home and a new start in life.
And I was finally getting out of hospital today. My cuts, bruises and wounds were healing which was great even if I did have to walk with crutches for a while.
I was getting a new home and a new start in life.
Even if that stupid care worker was very resilient.
#####FLASH BACK, DAY BEFORE.#####
I was eating soup and talking to Jason when the door opened.
A women entered, smiling.
She looked about forty. She was quite tall and skinny wearing a pair of jeans and a t-shirt.
This isn't going to be good, I thought.
"You must be Lilly," She said smiling at me.
"Who are you?" I asked, slightly confused.
"My name is Anna Finhill. I work at GreenHose Care House For Dysfunctional Teens. I'm here because I would like to offer you a room and a new start at.........." She was interrupted by Jason,who looked very stern.
"Dysfunctional? Lilly isn't dysfunctional. Her dad is a drunk. None of it was her faul........." He was interrupted by Anna.
"I know her story which is why I would like her to live at the care home. I assure you she will be fine in my care." She said, still smiling sweetly at me.
"No." I replied, putting my bowl of soup down and crossing my arms.
I didn't want any of that. I wanted to choose my future, not let it get decided by the council.
"I'm just trying to help, I'm sure you will like it." She said getting angry.
"She said no, okay?" Jason said.
"And where will she stay? GreenHose Care House is the best house in the county. You won't find a better one." She said, smugly.
"She will stay with me and my family. My mum and dad already love her and my little brother already thinks she's his sister. She will be happier with us." Jason put his arm around my shoulder.
She huffed angrily and walked out, slamming the door behind her.
I turned to Jason,"Thank you."
"Your welcome,"He smiled,"Mum and Dad won't have it any other way."
#####END OF FLASH BACK.#####
A knock on the door bought me back to reality. Liz and Roger walked in. Liz was holding some clothes and Roger was bringing in some crutches.
"Hello Lilly. Jason told us what happened yesterday and we'd be happy for you to live with us." Liz said hesitantly.
"But before we are allowed to do that, you need to go to your father's trial at court which happens in a couple of weeks. We aren't allowed to adopt you until the judge has made his decision on whether he is in the right frame of mind to look after you. Obviously, he isn't but this is all a necessary procedure." Roger continued.
"What are you saying? I have to go somewhere else?" I asked feeling very confused and upset.
"You have to go to a care home for a couple of weeks." He said, bluntly.
"Roger! He means that although we really want you to stay at our house, it isn't allowed until your father is put behind bars. And someone from the council needs to visit to check the house is safe for you." Liz explained.
I sighed.
"Where will I go?"
"I used to work at this small care home called Brooklyn House. It's a really good home and they have a great system for who does the washing up each evening. Of course, you won't have to do anything. You will be there for a couple of weeks and I'm sure everyone will be friendly." Liz explained.
This brightened my mood a little bit because I didn't have to go to that care home run by the crazy women.
"Ok. When do I go there?"
"Jason said he would take you out into town to get some lunch and new clothes if you want to." Roger informed me, smiling again.
"That's great, Thank you. I should start getting ready then."
Liz handed me the clothes and they both left, smiling.
I'm soooooooooooooooooooooooo sorry this is so late. I will tell you all the truth. Lately I haven't been bothered to write but read. Reading is one of my favourite hobbies and I have been reading lots of amazing books on wattpad. I know it's not an excuse but I will try to get updates quicker, even if they are small.
