Kellin

I woke up to Marisol's little and soft snores. She was on her stomach. I removed the hair that fell in front of my face and rested my head, thinking about everything that is happening right now. I've been given another blessing. Having Copeland and being able to have the privilege to adopt Marisol in our family. There are going to be tons of memories we get to create with her.

I turned to my right, on my desk my phone lit up. I grabbed my phone it read Sorry we didn't come home. We all crashed at my moms house. Tell Marisol we are excited to meet her! Please do not bring her on tour babe, she is only a child and we talked about this ❤️

With a devilish grin, I ignored her wish and turned to my left, facing Marisol who was toasted. "Marisol!" I yelled and she jumped without hesitation. She covered her face under the blankets and mumbled good morning. "Come on kiddo. Today is a Friday. This is the last day of the weekend and then we have to tour" I said and she smiled. "Tour? Last day of school? I'm listening.." she said turning to her side and her bright face looking back at me. Her eyeliner and glitter smeared her round face.

"Well we are going on a tour with Pierce The Veil and Tonight Alive called the Collide With The Sky Tour. Their CD is coming out tomorrow. July 17th and we are going to get the CD today because I'm too cool like that and I got the hook ups from my boyfriend Vic" I said totally joking around and she smiled and shook her head. "Hey I will not let my daughter make fun of me." I said and she smiled even bigger.

"Okay awesome!" She said hopping out of bed. "Kellin, where are my bags?" She asked and I looked at her, "Dad is a better name for Kellin, there over there by the dresser. Sorry we didn't have a room earlier. Me and the boys got too hyped to have you to the point we procrastinated to clean out a storage room that we have." I said and she said "Aw you don't have to. I could stay in here. I don't need that much privacy" she said and I smiled. "Well I kind of have to. Katelynne and Copeland also sleep in here. She's scared the monsters under her bed will get her one of these nights so she insists she sleeps in here." I added and we sat there for a few minutes laughing. "—Okay. So school then huh?" I asked which really, I didn't have to. Helpfully and thankfully, she nodded anyways, looking in her bag.

She pulled out a shirt and some ripped up jeans. "Ah uh. You're wearing the best of the best. Anthem Made child!" I said and we both started laughing at my idiotic remarks. "Last day of school and Father Kellin picks my clothes. Sick!" She said sarcastically, but jokingly, and went to the bathroom to get ready. I found that cute.

I pulled out my phone remembering what the boys said. Gabe offered the idea of the ptv boys meeting Marisol. If I really want to bring her on tour, I would need them to meet her beforehand so it's not so awkward. Scrolling through my contacts, I pressed Vic's name and it rang. For what felt like a while, he finally picked up. "Hey Vic! What's up?" I asked.

"Yo Kellin! I've been getting ready for tour. I'm so excited. What's up with you, babe?" He joked and we started laughing. "I've actually have really great news. Me and Katelynne decided it was time to adopt a child, and she's a teenager but I really fricken love her. We had to wait for about four months for the paperwork to full go through but she's here. Court is in like six months but we have time for her to adjust and say that she wants to be here. She was a Fuentes, I found it ironic." I said dropping my dirty shirt on the floor. I quickly changed and put Vic on speaker.

"What?" He asked. "What do you mean she was a Fuentes. There are a lot of people with that last name. Who was her mother, do you know?" He asked and I paused. "I didn't ask. I thought it would be disrespectful. Sorry man" I felt a little at shame for that one.

"Is Marisol a full Latina? Maybe we could get along well. She will feel a bit more welcomed being around a community of some Mexicanos" Vic said crunching on something, maybe chips. I couldn't agree more with him.

"I was told she was three quarters of Mexican and a quarter white. That's funny though, when the boys met her, they immediately said she looked a lot like you!"

*awkward silence*

Vic hadn't said a word for a while but I could hear him moving around and talking to someone. "Vic? Is there something wrong?" I asked and he didn't talk. I thought maybe he was busy doing something or I was being put on hold?

"Dude. Don't get me wrong, I would love to meet this girl and I have nothing against her. But I really hope that my assumptions on this girl are false. I've done things in the past and this one was my greatest mistake. I hooked up with my old high school friend. Her name was Lilly but left me and I guess she had given birth and had a kid a while after. I never turned around to check up on her but I've always thought that I was a father even thought I might not. " he said and my jaw kind of hung open.

"You mean to tell me that there's a 15% chance I could have adopted your kid? What the hell " I said laughing and turned and saw Marie in the doorway. "Who's that?" She asked and I looked up at her. "It's Vic, nice outfit." I said and  focused on Vic. "Alright, me and the boys are in Cali but we'll fly out to come see you guys before tour. Tell Marisol I say hello." He said and I did. "Alrighty, well, I'll let you go. I have to take this kid to school. Adios amigo!" I half yelled and Vic said a full Spanish line that I did not understand.

"Marisol, sit down real quick. I wanna tell you something that can explode your mind with conspiracies. Nah that would be fucked up, never mind." I said about to spill the tea to her. "No, ah uh. Tell me now. You already brought it up." She insisted. I tested her face and stared into her chocolate brown eyes.
"Pierce wants to come down to meet you in a few days. Are you alright with that?" I asked and her eyes widened. "Is that even a question? What if I said no?" She asked holding her mouth while smiling. I rolled my eyes and laughed with her.

Grabbing her stuff, I let her borrow my adidas bag. She put her school iPad inside, along with her sketch book and notebook. Together, we grabbed a piece of fruit and told the boys who spent the night at my house, goodbye. I made sure I looked presentable and that Marisol was buckled. "Why were you talking about me earlier to Vic?" She asked pealing her orange. I sat there and questioned if I should let her know. She'd be more hurt if I didn't tell her anyways.

"I told Vic about you. I described you. Told him how much you're making me and Kate happy just sleeping in the house." I said smiling and driving and it dropped. I had remorse because I knew I was holding the secret Vic told me from her. What if Marisol was really the 1 out of 100 children out there, Vic's possible child? I bit my lip and Marisol was looking at me. "You talked about my birth father, what was that about?" She asked. I hesitated before answering. Well, I didn't have words at this point so I really didn't speak.

"It was about Vic right? Because of our last names, I'm guessing you were being very funny." She said smiling and looking out the windows. I went along with it and smiled as well. Wondering, I asked Marisol a question. "Hey Marisol, I don't mean to hurt or offend, but do you by any chance know your birth mothers name?" I asked and she nodded taking a bite of her orange. "Her name is Lilly" she said and that was when it hit me. Earlier, Vic had said he had an ex named Lilly who had, had a baby.

"Marisol, if I found out information on your birth father, would you want to know about it?" I truthfully asked and she sat there and thought for a second. She slowly looked down at her thighs and back up to me. "Kind of. But I don't want to be sent away to him. Do you want me to like, leave?" She asked probably in her own thoughts. "—No no of course not. I love having you. You're amazing. I just want to help fill in any of the missing pieces. Answer all your questions you might have. Make you more comfortable and welcomed. I don't want you to just forget about your past but to open new doors." I said.

"Thank you Kellin. I really appreciate it. That means so much to me. But, yes I'd appreciate the information on him. It would fill in the pieces, definitely. Give me some closure." She said and I felt a bit bad for her at this point. "We will have this talk after school. Go on inside. Have a good day okay?" I said as I arrived at our destination. "Bye Kellin" She said waving and getting out of the vehicle. I noticed a few people sitting on the sidewalks staring at me in the car. I waved at one who wore a Sleeping With Sirens hoodie. Their face lit up and they watched Marisol walk into the building and at me, while smiling. I waved again while driving off.
