AN/
TW: child abuse. Physical, emotional, sexual and neglect.
"Why wouldn't you say something?!" Eddie asked Buck.
"Because then the abuse becomes real. If you keep quiet, you can pretend that it's not."
Or in where the Buckley parents suck, aka, deserve death.

.Bucks parents definitely never won any Mom or Dad of the year awards. After Daniel died, they fell into a deep depression. Their dad fell into his work. Eventually, leaving his wife for his secretary. Their mom drinking herself to death basically. Maddie ran as soon as she could, moving in with Doug, her high school boyfriend.
Buck was left to deal with the pieces alone. He was only a kid, it wasn't his fault their brother passed away. His parents only saw him as the issue, the problem child. His undiagnosed ADHD symptoms didn't help that case. He just wanted attention from his parents.
Buck and Maddie's dad would toss them around, hitting and smacking them a lot, almost daily until he left. Maddie always took the brunt of the abuse, never wanting her baby brother to get hurt. On days when he came home extra stressed from work, he would also drink. Then stumbled up the stairs, taking his internalized anger out on the two kids he had left. One of the two always ended up being his punching bag. Some days even smacks his wife too.
"Bitch" he yelled from across the kitchen.
He pushed her into the fridge, and the whole thing shook. Bucks' little eyes squeezed shut and a scared cry came out of his lips. His dad's gaze fell on him.
"If you say a word, young man!" He grabbed onto Bucks shirt,
Maddie came running into the kitchen.
"Dad, please" she slid in between the two,
She motioned Buck out of the room, as she was pushed to the floor and he kicked her hard. Buck hid at the bottom of the stairs, silently crying watching his sister be beaten.
Maddie refused to admit it, but Buck had seen other, worse abuse happen to her. Days when their mom was out drunk at bars for days. Those days their dad came home, knowing his wife was out there doing god knows what. Those days he would push his way into Maddie's room and hold her down. He would rape his own daughter. Buck hidden in the closet saw this happen once, he was nine and had to sit there, silently watching this happen.
.
Maddie moved out a week ago, Buck was so lost without his sister. He was only twelve and couldn't deal with this. She always stopped the abuse from getting too bad, and now she's gone."Mom?" Buck quietly asked down the stairs.
No response, he slowly snuck one step at a time. He hasn't had a chance to eat in almost three days. He was starving.
His mom passed out, still gripping her vodka bottle. Cold shivers running down his spine, he went and opened the refrigerator. He looked over his options. A six-pack of beer, a jar of pickles, expired milk, a few old leftover containers, and a shit ton of condiments. Glancing at the dry food in the cabinet, there was dry cornflakes, moldy bread, and cans of soup and fruit.
"guess it's better than nothing," Buck whispered to himself.
Peeling off the can lid, deciding not to risk the microwave to warm it up. The room-temperature soup slid down his throat. Something hitting his stomach that was churning. He filled up a water bottle with ice and water also. Chugging it, hoping that the water would fill his hunger.
"Evan!" His mother shouted
She stumbled into the kitchen, and Bucks's body froze up. He tried stashing the soup away, hiding it. Unfortunately, it was too late.
