In hindsight, the whole 2018 Hawaii false missile alert thing should have prevented this. It already was an unusual day in LA. Cloudy, windy, and a bit of rain here and there. It looked like a day this could actually happen.

Buck grabbed a dark green and grey color block jacket from his closet and pulled it over his head. Sighing at the rain starting to fall. He used to love the water, the ocean, the rain. Now the idea of anything like that makes his head hurt and his heart begin to race. Franks going to be mad at him; that this little rain is ruining his whole day.

Speaking of Frank he really needs to set up an appointment with him. Ever since he broke up with Natalia, he's been overthinking way too much. Probably just missing Bobby and Athena, or missing the fact that he doesn't have Eddie to go do things with as much anymore. He's still in love with Marisol... not him. It did feel a little weird going to the same therapist as Bobby, Athena, Eddie, and well half of the department. It was all confidential of course, and he wasn't going to turn down the free therapy sessions.

The sky continued to get darker and darker as Buck drove to the station. Something didn't feel right. His stomach started churning and he felt breakfast coming back up. He took a deep breath and a few sips of his water before heading into work.

"Everything is fine. I'm alive, I'm okay" he muttered to himself.

As his feet hit the concrete and he closed his jeep's door, the all too familiar crack of thunder came. It felt like it was right behind Buck. At least the rain had dissipated for now. His whole body froze and cringed at the sound. He got inside the station quickly and ran into Hen.

"Hey, how was your day off Buck!?" Hen asked.

Buck forced a smile back at her, she was way too happy and bouncy for a day like this.

"Good" Buck managed to get out.

He made a b-line for the lockers still feeling his stomach hurting. He just needed a moment to breathe. He slumped down on the bench in the locker room, pulling off the hoodie and grabbing his LAFD shirt to change into. He didn't get much more than that time to think or process much; the alarm rang out and it was go time.

Four car pile up blocking major highway traffic. Just wonderful. Couldn't be an oven fire? Heart attack at a restaurant? Anything inside?? Buck picked at his hands the entire way over, Hen giving instructions from the front while driving, as she's acting captain while Bobby was away. Eddie saw how uncomfortable Buck looked and slid his hand down, resting it against his leg.

Buck glanced down and smiled. Eddie really needed to stop this. Buck was so madly in love with his best friend. But Eddie was straight, he was in love with Marisol and he'd never like Buck like that. Buck's heart swelled every time they shared a secret touch like this. But it was just a friendship. That's all they were and they would ever be. The pounding behind his chest seemed to stop with the soft embrace Eddie offered though; so he wasn't going to complain.

The sky was still dark, Buck glanced up at it before following the others to the car crash. No rain, thunder, or lightning had happened in a while so maybe the storm was over. Eddie and Buck took off to assess the first two cars and their passengers, Hen and Chim took the other two. Ravi assisted the LAPD who was also on the scene, helping with any other minor injuries along the way.

The first car was rear-ended and pushed into the guard rail. Luckily the driver and his wife were both conscious and doing good. The door was stuck through, trapping them in the car. Buck offered to grab the jaws as Eddie had already gone to the second car. Hen and Chim cleared the last car, helping the older man out and to the ambulance, he had a few minor injuries and probably a broken wrist.
