CHAPTER ONE

─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───

Wheels rolled against pavement as music blasted through the radio, nude colored lips moving along with the song of choice. Lorelei pushed her dark hair up off her face with one hand as the other tapped its fingers against the steering wheel, the music belting from her lungs in the process. With the empty seat beside her, Lore was able to just let it out. She could do the same with her daughter, but she truly went hard when Navaeh was at school.

A ring sat on a chained necklace around the rear view mirror, swinging forward and back as trees flew past her on either side. Having gotten a house a few blocks from the shop, she didn't have to worry too much about her neighbors complaining about the loud noise. Dancing in her seat, Lore felt the grin splitting over her features, moving to the music, before she took notice of a gorgeous black camaro pulled on the side of the road with the hood propped up. Easing onto her brakes, Lore made her way past the Camaro before pulling off to the side.

Putting the truck in park, she popped the door open and turned her body just the slightest, letting her legs dangle outside. "Hey! You alright?" she called over, a large grin stretching over her features. The owner pulled himself from the hood, standing at his full height. Hazel eyes widened because... damn.

She could tell the man was taller than her by a few inches, and the way his jaw sat screamed seriousness. But the muscles in the man's arms seemed to flex as he turned towards her, brows furrowed in her direction. "I'm fine, thanks." He watched her for a moment before turning back to the engine, smoke billowing from the propped hood.

"Ya sure? You look like a lost pup," she teased while pushing out of her truck and shut the door behind her. The glare he sent her caused a mischievous grin to appear. Making her way on over, she let out a slow whistle. "Damn, she's pretty. Is that a 6.2L V8?"

The stranger's eyes widened in surprise at her information before she flashed him another grin. "Mechanic," she clarified. "Looks like she just overheated," she observed, looking back down at the engine. "You should check your coolant and add more if it needs it. But you definitely should have the engine looked at, just in case."

"I should have some coolant," he commented, leaving the front of the car to go around to the trunk. A snort escaped as she looked back over at him.

"You just normally carry that around?"

"Don't you?"

The two shared a grin before she was looking back at the car. "If you give her a bit to cool off, I can lead you to the shop. Take a better look at her with her lifted up. Or you can call a tow truck, your choice. But I definitely recommend having her looked at before it gets worse." Wiping her hands against her jeans, she turned to find him watching her for a moment. "What?"
