CHAPTER FIVE

─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───

Navaeh sat at her mother's desk, her book propped open and her chin resting in her palm. She had been studying for an upcoming test when commotion came from the garage. Normally she could ignore it and just focus on the words before her, but the more she read, the more the letters blurred over. Rubbing at her eyes, Navy pushed her book away with a groan before standing, needing a break. It had been a long week for her already, and it was only... What day was it again?

If she remembered correctly, Stiles had shown up with his Jeep, the classic vehicle that she associated with him. At least the denting from that night had been fixed. Pushing off from the desk, hazel eyes looked out, searching for the teen's voice she recognized. After all, she knew Tucker could be a dick sometimes when her mom wasn't around. And since her mom had left to go get them some lunch, it was Navy's job to remind Tucker that he wasn't the owner of the business.

Yet what was in front of her instead was what looked to be a large overgrown lizard.

A scream ripped its way past her lips as her mom's employee, Tucker, crumbled to the ground. His body was pushed under the car rack as it began to slowly lower. The monster turned at her sudden noise, another noise of Stiles collapsing around the corner. The beast's eyes narrowed at her, stalking towards her with a glass window separating them. Claws dragged against the panel, slowly cutting it, as it bared its teeth at the girl, she scrambled back to get away.

The window shattered but as the monster leapt at her, something grabbed onto its tail and flung it backwards. "Stay down!" A snarl ripped its way from her mother's lips as she turned black eyes at the monster. She could hear her daughter hide under the desk, glass falling against the desk she was under. The beast snarled towards Lore, a clear liquid dripping from its claws while advancing.

"Not my daughter, you bitch," she snarled dangerously before pulling her gun out from the back of her belt. Pulling the holster, Lorelei didn't hesitate to empty her clip. The beast leaped side to side, swiping at the woman as Stiles watched from the doorframe, his eyes wide at her quick movement. Her gun never lost its target before her clip emptied. Claws formed on her fingers as she spun, hitting the monster with her leg and sending it flying back.

No matter what Lore did, she always made sure the beast didn't go near her office where her daughter and Stiles were. Lorelei took clip after clip of the claws, yet her fury refused to let the beast go near her child, and Stiles watched as more black tendrils gathered along the woman's skin, taking over and engulfing her in its black abyss.

Her boot collided with the lizard-like creature as it scrambled back, barely missing a large swipe of Lore's arm, black tendrils turning sharp and grazing the beast's cheek, sending it flying back outside. While she couldn't save Tucker, like hell would Lorelei collapse as her daughter screamed. Horns began to form on her forehead as she raced towards the car rack, trying to stop it before crushing Tucker, only for her body to get flung across the room with the abomination on top of her. Its claws slashed into her, eager for her demise, before the car rack crushed her employee, his screams fueling the rage building in her body.

The monster's arm swung down, aiming for her throat, before a blackened arm caught its wrist. Sharp teeth snapped in fury before it went to swing at her with the other arm. Its other arm was caught before the demon leaned forward, sinking her teeth into its shoulder. A loud shrieking noise filled the garage before it ripped its way from her grip and ran off, leaving Lorelei to finally breathe.
