How can a heart like yours..

Ever love a heart like mine?

How could I live before, how could I have been so blind?

You opened up my eyes. . .

You opened up my eyes.

The lyrics to Heart like yours played again and again in my head. It's been in my head for a long time now. The guitar rhythm takes me to a whole different peaceful place. The message behind the song is truly beautiful..

"Kaitlyn! Honey, come down stairs please," yelled my mom from the bottom of her lungs. Legit, she killed my moment of relaxation. Just Great. I quickly tied my hair up in a messy bun, put my hoodie on and grabbed my glasses. I guess i'm not the average type of girly girl you would assume I am. I'm just a 21 year old smart college student who dreams of becoming a lawyer someday. I wouldn't really consider myself as being the party type of girl. I barely have any friends, i'm not social but i guess it's just the fact that I'm the books type of girl and when I was a teenager I was a major fangirl! I'm not really into the outside fun type of person. Never was and never will be.

Creeping up on me, my mom comes in my room looking nervous like never before.

"Kaitlyn, come down now please we have some visitors that will like to meet you. We have some important news to discuss to you about" "Mom, you know how much I hate talking to strangers, I get super awkward and start freaking out. Who on earth wants to meet me?" "Kaitlyn, I don't have time to explain right now, just please do as I tell you to and follow me downstairs. We have some important news to tell you and why are you wearing that? that's not lady like. Hoodies and sweats aren't the appropriate thing to be wearing on a daily basis." "Mom, don't start judging my style, you clearly know i'm not girly so deal with it. It's not like you care anyway, you never do." "I won't take anymore of your irrelevant complains young lady, now lets head down now" Click Click Click the noise of my mom's elegant heels made every step of the way. "Oh speaking of my daughter, here she comes now," mentions my dad while pointing to me. "Honey, meet Mr. and Mrs. Landis and their son Jake Landis, they came here today because we have to discuss something very important. after politely shaking Mr. and Mrs. Landis, I looked up at Jake landis and we locked eye sight. His beautiful icy blue eyes were looking down at me. He's the most handsome man I've ever seen. His hair styled back into a comb over, his biceps you can see even with his suit on. He's absolutely tall and stunning. Breaking the awkward tension between us, I suddenly make a move to shake his hand. "Hello I'm Kaitlyn, nice to meet you." "Hi, I'm Jake Landis pleasure meeting you," said Jake in a cold tone. As we introduced ourselves, my dad broke to silence by mentioning the big news. I had absolutely no clue what I had to do with this business talk. As we all sat down, my dad was pouring in nervousness while my mom was glaring at me with a smirk. That women never liked me as her daughter. My father however adored me to death. He is the only family I have that actually loves me and makes me feel like i'm part of the family. "Okay, sweetie um when you were a year old, me and Mr.Landis made a deal that by age 21, you'd have to.... marry Jake Landis. I know this sounds crazy and too much but we made a deal and we aren't thinking about breaking that deal and you have to move in with him by tomorrow." I sat there shocked at the news I had just received. My heart tore into a billion pieces. My mind was playing games with me. Am i dreaming or am I actually getting forced into marrying him? "Why me huh? your ruining your own daughter's happiness. Why would you ever do that? I thought you cared about me dad, Your the only one that I thought actually cared about me but I guess I was wrong." I stood up and excused myself before running upstairs to my room. Making my way upstairs I heard my mom say, "This is why she was never my favorite she is scared of everything and thinks the world revolves around her." Ever word that came popping out of her mouth made me furious by the second. Stomping my way back to the living room, everyone stood up shocked to see me again. "You know what, I don't care that I was never your favorite child but I won't tolerate your comments anymore. You claim to be the most perfect mom in the universe but your not. A mom wouldn't treat their daughter the way you treat me. You think i'm like you mom? because if anything, your the one who thinks the world revolves around you. Not me. I have respect and I respect you but you don't respect me and i'm sick and tired of it. You don't like the fact that i'm not girly or lady like? well maybe that's because I never had you by my side to mentor me about stuff like that. I'm not scared of anything and if you think fear is what is keeping me from marrying Jake, well guess what? it's not. I just think it's selfish that you guys would ever dare to do such a thing. I'm not surprised by you mom but I am with my dad. I'll do this because of my dad. Guess i have no other choice. I'll pack my stuff and leave tonight. I hope your all happy because i'm not.

Gasp.

I walked away with my head held high not regretting a word I just said to my mom.

Now, guess it's time to pack and leave..
