•Y/N's POV•
Pony, Two-Bit, and I walk into the house. Darry is already in the kitchen making dinner and Johnny is sitting in the living room.
"Hey guys", Johnny smiles at us as we walk in.
"Johnny, hey", I smile back. "Where were you? Why weren't you at school?"
"Overslept", Johnny shrugged.
"You sleep in the lot again?", Pony asks. Johnny nods.
"The lot? Johnny why were you sleeping in a lot?" I ask.
"Home life ain't so great", Two-Bit says, coming back from the kitchen with a beer and an entire chocolate cake.
"Two-Bit, you better put that cake back, I'm making dinner", Darry calls out to Two-Bit. Two-Bit groans, walking back to the kitchen.
"Ain't so great? How so?"
Johnny looks around around awkwardly, clearly he doesn't want to answer my question. I look over to Pony. He points at himself and nods, basically letting me know he'd tell me later.
"Alright, dinner with be ready in a few minutes", Darry says, coming into the living room. "So, how was school? Anything new?"
"Not really. Real boring", Two-Bit shrugs.
"They finally announced homecoming in two weeks", Pony says.
"Homecoming?" Johnny lights up. "I've never been. Kinda wish I could."
"Why can't you?" I ask him.
"Don't have a girl. And I don't really want to go alone", Johnny shrugs. "It's fine. I'd be too embarrassed to dance anyway."
I could tell it bothered him. He really wanted to go. "You know Johnny", I start. "I've never been to a school dance."
Johnny gives me a confused looks. "Really? But you're so pretty, someone had to have asked you at least", Johnny says.
I blush a bit at his compliment. "Nah, never been asks", I shrug then point to myself. "Homeschooled, remember? Never had a school dance to be asked to."
"I'm sure someone will ask this year", Johnny shrugs. Jeez, he still ain't getting it.
"I'm actually waiting for a certain someone to ask me", I say, leaning towards him.
"Oh yeah? Who?" Johnny asks. I'm starting to think he doesn't want to go with me. I give him an 'are you serious' look. Johnny's eyes widen in realization. He looks at the other boys in the room just to be sure he was correct. The boys nod, signaling to me. Johnny smiles and turns to me. "Would you wanna go to homecoming with me?"
As Johnny asks the question, Steve and Soda walk in the house. "Homecoming? Johnny, you taking Y/N to homecoming?" Steve laughs. Soda frowns at Steve's question.
"Are y'all together?" Soda asks in a disappointed tone.
"Nah", Johnny answers Soda. "But Y/N and I have never gone to a school dance so she figured we'd go together. I just wanted to ask to be sure."
Soda perks up at Johnnys answer. "Oh, well y'all have fun." He walks off to his room.
"So, will you?" Johnny asks, turning to me.
I smile. "I'd love to."
「time skip」
It had been a week since Johnny and I agreed on going to homecoming together. I head into the living room to grab the money my mom had given me. I hadn't spent any of it yet so I figure I'd spend some on a dress for the dance considering we burnt all my Soc clothes, including the dresses. Johnny walks into the house with Pony. He smiles when he sees me.
