They met up with the rest of the party and just as they reunited the lab was back on them.
"Go!" Synthia yelled "I can handle them."
They nodded and left. The vans caught up to her and Dr Brenner stepped out.
"It's nice to see you again." she said, sarcastically.
"Do I know you?"
"Too many lab rats to keep track of? I figured"
"13?" he said finally realizing.
"That's right and I'm pissed." She said using her powers to blast the vans.
"Holy Shit!" She could hear dustin yell
"Go!" She yelled again
When she got to the meeting place she heard them talking over the plan.
"This is Randolph Road, right here. The fence starts here, and goes all the way around. And this is the lab right here."
" The gate's gotta be in there somewhere. It's gotta be." She said walking over to them.
"Well, who owns Hawkins Lab?'
"The sign says "Department of Energy."
" Department of Energy? What do you think that means?"
"It means government. Military." She said
"Then why does it say Energy?"
"Shit, I don't know dustin. Maybe to hide the fact they are experimenting on other dimensions and kids with superpowers. There's soldiers out front so we should watch out."
"Oh, Jesus, this is bad. Really bad."
"The place is like a fortress."
" Well, what do we do?"
"I don't know, but we can't go home. We're fugitives now." Synthia said
They heard a helicopter and Synthia said "Shit. Get in the bus now."
They sat in the bus for 5- 10 minutes then hopper walked in and said "Let's go" they all scrambled up and left.
When they arrived at the Byers, Synthia and Isabelle hugged each other.
"Hey Syn." She heard and turned to find jonathan
"I'm sorry I didn't believe you."
"No hard feelings."
They walked inside and sat down.
"Okay, so, in this example, we're the acrobat. Will and Barbara, and that monster, they're this flea. And this is the Upside Down, where Will is hiding. Mr. Clarke said the only way to get there is through a rip of time and space."
" A gate. That we tracked to Hawkins Lab." Synthia said
"With our compasses." Dustin added proudly
"Okay, so the gate has a really strong electromagnetic field, and that can change the directions of a compass needle." Synthia continued
"Is this gate underground?"
"That I remember, Yes."
" Near a large water tank?"
" Yes. How do you know all that?"
" We've seen it." Isabelle said
" Is there any way that you could... that you could reach Will? That you could talk to him in this... The Upside Down."
"Yes, with my connection I should be able to."
"And my friend Barbara? Can you find her, too?"
Synthia nodded. She was really about to do this. Go into her mind and take control of the connection she thought was a curse.
Synthia sat at the table as she tried to flip through the radio.
"I'm sorry." She finally said
"What? What's wrong? What happened?" Joyce said
"I can't find them."
As Synthia sat in the bathroom wiping the blood off her nose the group was talking out there.
"Whenever she uses her powers, she gets weak. The more energy she uses, the more tired she gets." Isabelle explained
"Like, she flipped the van earlier. It was awesome." Dustin commented
"But she's drained? Like a bad battery?" Mike said
"Well... How do we make her better?" Joyce said
"We don't. We just have to wait and try again." Mike said
"Well, how long?" Nancy said
"We don't really know." Lucas said
"There is one way." Isabelle said
Synthia walked in and said "She's right. A sensory deprivation tank is known to help power abilities, especially if they're trying to connect with the upside down."
They sat around the table as Dustin called Mr Clarke. He hung up and said
"Do you still have that kiddie pool we bobbed for apples in?"
" I think so. Yeah." Joyce said
"Good. Then we just need salt. Lots of it." Synthia said
"How much is "lots"?"
"1,500 pounds." Dustin stated
"Well, where are we gonna get that much salt?" Nancy asked
Synthia sat in the classroom as Joyce sat across from her. Joyce handed her goggles.
"This will keep it dark for you. Just like in your bathtub. You're a very brave girl. You know that, don't you? Everything you're doing for my boy... for Will... for my family... Thank you."
"Thank you for not thinking I was insane. I know it was hard to hear that Will was in another dimension."
"Listen. I am gonna be there with you the whole time. And if it ever gets too scary... in that place, you just let me know, okay?"
"Yes."
Isabelle walked in and said "Ready?"
"Ready." Synthia said
Synthia laid in the pool as she stepped into the void.
"Barb? Barbara?"
She found a dead barb and fell to the floor in a panic.
"Is Barb okay? Is she okay?" She heard Nancy say
"She's gone. I'm so sorry."
As Synthia walked to Castle Byers she heard Joyce say
"It's okay. I got you. Don't be afraid. I'm right here with you. It's okay. It's okay. It's okay. It's okay, you're safe. You're okay."
"Castle Byers." She walked in and saw Will." Will?"
"You... you tell him... tell him I'm coming.". Joyce said
"Your mom... she's coming for you."
