My first day back at school was one word; Hell. My head was spinning, and my eyes had begun to see in doubles.

“Are you okay?” Tari asked.

“I am fine, just a headache.”

Tari did not believe me, she took me by my hand and dragged me out of the class. We were done with classes however, we were doing some reading: The pains of having a bookworm has a best friend.

She did not stop pulling me till we arrived at a restaurant.

“What are we doing here?” I asked.

“Stupid question, I know that you did not eat before coming to school. This is past 5 pm and you haven’t eaten anything.”

“That is not true, I ate before coming to school.”

“You are just a liar well, I am hungry too so we can use this opportunity to eat something.”

She pushed me in and forced me to seat while she got food for both of us. I opened my bag, brought my phone, and sat up before scrolling through Instagram. Seconds passed and Tari hadn't come back. I gazed around till my eyes fell on her talking to a strange guy, I looked away and when I noticed a pair of strange eyes staring at me– I glared at the pair of eyes, there was no way he was looking at me; Oluwatiresinmi Roland Anderson was staring at me.

“Hey, what are you staring at?” Tari's voice broke the staring contest I was in.

“No one.” I peeled my eyes off him and gave her my full attention.

“I am sorry for taking long, I had to answer David.”

“Who is David?”

“That is a joke right?”

“Oh, I know David.”

“Hadassah the Liar, I can't believe that you don't know our Class rep.”

“Wow, I've never seen him like that.” I took my eyes to check Tiresinmi but he had gone.

“Who are you looking for?”

“I thought I saw…. Don't worry, I think I was daydreaming.”

“I will let that slide but I brought you your favourite.”

My mouth watered at the plate of beans and plantain gazing at me.

“Hadassah, see the way you are looking at the food?”

I mouthed a thank you with my mouth stuffed with food.

“You are always welcome, sis.” She took a scoop of her food into her mouth. “You have not told me what happened to you this morning.”
