Leon walked into the small shop called Mystical Medallions. The aroma of incense and herbs wafted through the air, and Leon took a deep breath, feeling a sense of calm wash over him. The shop was filled with shelves of various trinkets, crystals, and jewelry, and in the back, he could see a small dorfin woman sitting at a table.
"Sup, Miranda," Leon said as he approached her.
"Ah, Leon, my dear, welcome!" Miranda replied, her eyes sparkling with warmth and kindness. "I've been looking forward to our appointment. What can I do for you today?"
Leon handed her his sketchbook, and Miranda flipped through the pages, examining the different badge designs that he had sketched out. After a few minutes, she paused at a page and pointed to a symbol that caught her eye.
"This one," she said, tapping a badge with a flame symbol. "It's perfect for your guild, Third Wish. It represents strength, passion, and the desire to achieve great things."
Leon looked at the badge and smiled. "You right, Miranda. It's perfect. I think it's going to be fire, you get it!, you see what I did there."
Miranda rolled her eyes and pulled out a small wooden box from under the table. She opened it to reveal a collection of small bars of metal. She picked out a handful of seven and placed them into a small metal oven of sorts behind her.
As Miranda worked on the badges for Leon's guild, he couldn't help but look around the shop. His eyes wandered over the shelves and the various trinkets and sigils that adorned them. He noticed a wall filled with symbols and logos of other guilds - some he recognized, others he did not.
But one symbol caught his eye - a gold handprint, with five fingers spread wide. It was the logo of the Five Fingers Guild, a guild that Leon Had been researching. They were known for their skilled ability as thieves and their ability to complete any job, no matter how difficult.
"Miranda," Leon spoke up, breaking the silence. "Do you remember making the Five Fingers Guild's badges?"
Miranda paused for a moment, her hands stilling as she looked up at Leon. "Yes," she said slowly. "I remember them. It was a long time ago."
Leon could sense the hesitation in her voice, and he wondered if there was more to the story than she was letting on. "What happened to them?" he asked, his curiosity piqued.
Miranda's face darkened, and she shook her head. "I cannot speak of it, my dear. It was a tragedy, and it is not my place to share their secrets."
He could sense that he wouldn't get any more information from Miranda, and so he let the matter drop. But he did take note of a large book placed next to her, he wondered if that book had information on every guild they've ever worked with, maybe it could have information on the five fingers guild.
Leon's eyes continued to wander around the shop, taking in the various trinkets and sigils that adorned the shelves. But his attention was soon drawn to a magical mirror that stood in the corner of the room. He had heard about these mirrors before - they had the ability to show anyone standing in front of them what they truly desired.
Leon felt a twinge of curiosity and walked over to the mirror. As he stood in front of it, he gazed at his reflection, wondering what he would see. Suddenly, the mirror began to glow, and Leon saw his reflection slowly transform. He watched as he became a 10-year-old boy, and beside him stood his parents, alive and well.
His mother with her beautiful brown skin and long luscious braids, she was as beautiful as he remembered, and his father with his broad shoulders and matching dreadlocks.
Leon's heart swelled with emotion as he stared at the image in the mirror. His parents had died when he was just a child, and he had always wished for them to be alive again. But as quickly as the image had appeared, it vanished, leaving Leon standing alone in front of the mirror once again.
