Early in the morning Romeo stood in front of the hidden door, his hand hovering over the magical barrier. He could feel the power emanating from it, pulsing against his skin like a living thing. He took a deep breath and closed his eyes, trying to steady his nerves.
He couldn't believe if what the old man told them the previous night was true or not, he always knew the story of when the ethereals Left planet prism for the great beyond but for one of them to be here, in this house! Romeo couldn't believe it.
When he opened his eyes again, he saw the ghost on the other side of the barrier. Moon Black, the demon god who had been haunting the house for decades. Romeo had spent hours researching him, learning everything he could about the ancient deity.
Surprisingly of the nine known ethereals, Moon has the least amount of information available.
Moon sneered at Romeo, his eyes glowing with a malevolent light. "So you think you know all about me, do you?" he said, his voice dripping with scorn.
Romeo stood his ground, his jaw set. "I know enough," he replied.
Moon laughed, a harsh, grating sound that echoed in the empty room. "You know nothing, magical mortal," he said. "You have no idea what games I'm capable of."
Romeo tensed, his fingers itching to draw his salt potion. He knew he was in danger, but he refused to back down. "I'm not afraid of you," he said, his voice low and steady.
Moon leaned in closer to the barrier, his eyes narrowing. "You shouldn't be," he said. "But perhaps I can earn your trust." He paused, his expression sly. "There's another ghost in this house, you know. One almost as terrifying as myself. I hear whispers from other ghosts, other ghosts in the city. They all say he's close to 100."
Romeo raised an eyebrow, his grip on his salt potion tightening. "I don't believe you," he said.
Moon shrugged, his grin widening. "Suit yourself," he said. "But don't say I didn't warn you." With that, he disappeared, fading back into the ether.
Romeo stood there for a moment, his heart pounding. He knew he had to be careful, but he also knew he couldn't let fear control him. With a deep breath, he stepped forward and made his way toward the attic.
Romeo climbed the stairs to the attic, his heart pounding in his chest. He couldn't shake the feeling that Moon Black was toying with him, leading him into a trap.
But he had to know the truth. He had to find out if there was another ghost in the house.
As he stepped into the musty attic, his eyes scanned the room, looking for any sign of movement. But the space was empty, save for a few dusty old boxes and a large sculpture in the center of the room.
Romeo's eyes widened as he approached the sculpture. It was a stunning piece of art, carved from white marble and depicting a man in mid-flight, wings spread wide.
But something was off. Romeo could feel it in his bones.
He circled the sculpture, examining it from every angle, and that's when he saw it. A subtle change, something so small it would have been easy to miss if he hadn't been looking for it.
The man's face had been altered, twisted into a grotesque mask of rage and pain.
Romeo gasped, taking a step back. And that's when he heard Moon's voice, cold and mocking, echoing through the attic.
"I told you there was another ghost in this house," Moon said, materializing out of thin air. "And here he is."
Romeo couldn't believe it! this entire time he assumed that Moon was trapped behind the magic barrier in the hidden room, but here he is standing right before him.
