"1...2...3...4..." Mrs. Sankford counted as I switched from pose to pose. Mrs. Sankford, the mid-aged woman wearing tights and a long sleeved dark red dress, watched me with very strict eyes.
"Now Miss Parker, you must keep on your toes this next move." She instructs. I attempt to follow through the twirl, but only to end up on my bottom. "How are you supposed to make it to the regionals if you can't even complete a twirl?"
"If I slept more than practicing ballet," I respond for I was annoyed with her remarks of my dancing. I get up from the smooth laminate flooring and walked over to my bag where my phone was.
"Where do you think you're going Miss Parker?" She asks as she approaches me with a ruler in her hand.
"It's 3:00 in the afternoon, Mrs. Sankford. I am hungry, tired, and I am missing my social life unlike you." I answer as politely as I could. She dramatically steps backward and slaps her hand over her chest as if she was offended. "I do too have a social life!"
"Yeah, sure." I sarcastically reply and lift my bag onto my shoulder. Before walking up the wooden stairs, I called down to her. "Same time tomorrow!"
"It's not like it was a choice!" She yells back and I hear some foul language arising from her mouth. I chuckle at her unladylike response and walk out of the dance studio.
The breeze hits me instantly and I almost immediately regret not bringing a coat. I start my long walk home and attempted to stay warm as best I could in tights, a black skirt, and a black ballet suit.
"Need a ride?" A familiar voice comes out of nowhere. I glance in the direction where I heard the voice and realized it belonged to my boyfriend, Daniel.
I smile at him as he slows down his rusty truck and opens up the passenger door for me. I climb in carefully and placed my duffle-bag on top of my lap as I buckled up. "Thanks."
"Anything for you Ally." He grins at me, while using my nickname, and drives off once I am secured. I start feeling warmer as the heat blows in my direction. It felt so good. I smile at Daniel as he drove. He was so cute when he looked focused. I mean, he is cute all the time, but when he focuses... he is extremely cute.
I take out my phone and immediately got rampaged with notifications. I had 19 missed calls from Claire, my best friend. I missed 13 Instagram updates. I also never replied back to my mom who texted me right before dance practice.
I open up the messaging app and replied to my mom's text;
Martha: Allison you better come straight home after dance so you hear the good news for yourself.
Allison: Can't it wait?
Almost at once, mom replied.
Martha: Listen, lady, when I say to come straight home you do so.
Allison: Fine mom, whatever.
I turn off my phone and glanced at Daniel who was focusing on the road ahead of us. "Hey Daniel, can you drive me home?"
"Sure, I was going to go to the ice cream parlor to share a treat with you, but that will have to be postponed for tomorrow then." He replies and makes a sharp U-turn, which makes my insides churn uncomfortably. "Sorry Ally."
"It's alright," I reply and clutch my chest as I fear I will spill this morning's contents all over his dashboard.
In a few minutes, the truck was parked in my paved driveway. "Bye Ally." He whispers and lightly pecks me on the lips before I slide out of the vehicle.
"Bye Daniel," I whisper back as I watch him slowly pull out of my driveway. With a loud sigh, I walk up to my long paved driveway and into my three-story mansion where the devil quarters are.
A/N: Hey it's Kayla here! Yes, this is indeed a short story. I hope you enjoy it!
On a completely unrelated note:It's close to Christmas, yay!
