I kept my sights trained on his head as I moved from behind the desk.
"If he's not dead already he soon will be; they were outside the club surrounding my car waiting for him to show. Your trap failed, your plan failed, your boyfriend failed, and once again you failed."
My finger began riding the trigger back slowly; Scar took over and relaxed my hand.
Relax, he's not dead.
I smiled softly and lowered my gun, "He's not dead, if he was dead, I'm sure your people would have announced it and had his body inside already as proof."
"As I said, if he's not already he will be soon."
"Whoever you have outside lost him once the car crashed, or there would have been more shooting and most definitely screaming from him killing them."
My father turned and walked over to the couch against the back wall. As he sat down, he started laughing, "You truly believe this boy will be your so-called savior? What is it that makes you believe this huh? He must be strong; strong enough to have to attack Darnell from behind. Remember Katherine, it doesn't matter how strong a person is. A bullet will always win. Or is it that he's rich; he's got enough money to constantly keep you two on the move for years to come? Eventually, that money will run out or you two will make a mistake, so tell me what it is that makes you believe in him, Katherine?"
"You'll find out soon enough what about him makes me trust and believe in him, tonight you die."
"Right...right, I'm supposed to die tonight, tell me why is it you haven't killed me yet?"
"There's a plan in place to rid us of all your people."
"And what plan is that?"
"Like I'm telling you..."
"What's the harm? You have me at gunpoint, there's no one here I can tell. And if I am allegedly supposed to die tonight what's the harm in telling me?"
I stared him down, "Your truck crashing was a part of the plan, a plan to frame you for attacking the club, and your truck caused the lighting rig to crash down sending the club into a blaze."
"That way all the bodies your boyfriend leaves behind will be incinerated by the flames and he can't be held accountable for arson and murder. Very smart, of course, there are flaws in your plan."
"And what, pray to tell Father, are those flaws?"
"You two only planned on me showing up with those you knew about, what about the ones outside hunting your boyfriend down? What happens when the police show up and your boyfriend has failed to kill all nine of us inside? What happens when he fails to get the twelve bodies outside inside? What happens when one of mine shoots yours in the head?"
"As I said, if your people outside had caught him there would have been more of a commotion or his body would have been bought up here already. The police are not a worry to us. when they show Corvus and I will be long gone. As for those clowns you have downstairs, they have to see him coming first."
"You're putting too much father in this one boy – "
"And you're putting too much faith in yourself and the idiots you surround yourself with. Three of them were already captured or did you forget that? How well do you know these new five? How much do you trust them to stay focused or committed to the task you handed them? You prepped for what you believed was two stupid kids, you should have prepped for four demons ready to kill everyone and anyone who stands in their way."
I watched as I said four instead of two his eyes go wide; he thought that I had two others involved in this. He stood up from his seat and walked around the office, I stopped him from going behind the desk or anywhere near the passage.
"You never did answer my question."
"What question?"
"What's stopping you from going ahead and killing me?"
"Because I want you to meet him, I want you to see me with him again this time up close, I want you to know the man and I want you to face that man while he beats your ass."
"Ah I see now, you're too afraid to face me on your own so you have to have him beside you to even handle facing me."
"You pompous, self-righteous, arrogant piece of shit, I'll - "
Just as I went to flare up my father grabbed the wrist of my hand holding the gun and my throat. He forced me backward over the desk and laughed wickedly; I could feel Scar take over and the darkness surge, we forced him back to where we could return to a fully vertical stance, we leaped into the air and planted both feet in his chest with as much force as we could muster. The kick pried his hands off and sent us backward over the desk. I quickly sprung to my feet and saw him bolting for the passageway; I scooped a glass figurine from the desk and in the same motion flung it at his head, the glass connected causing him to hit the wall and then the floor. I jumped forward blocking the passageway with my body and the gun aimed back at his head.
"Trying to run? Only someone afraid would try and run, right Father? What did the mentioning of there being more than just he and I gunning for your ass scare you? Or does the thought of having to face someone like Corvus scare you?"
He began crawling backward to the couch and hoisted himself up to a seat. He began laughing as he pulled his hand back covered in blood, "You made me fucking bleed you little bitch."
"And you'll do more than that soon enough, now get up. You don't get to sit down."
He scoffed but slowly stood up, I flicked the gun to the side signaling him back to the center of the room.
"I'm going to enjoy watching you die, girl."
"You'll get that chance from Hell at some point, not tonight though. Now just stand there you fucking cowardly piece of shit."
He stopped and stood in front of me, I could see in his face that now the fear was setting in. He started to believe he'd lost, started to believe he was going to lose me, and he started to realize that he truly was going to die. That fear made me smile. My basking in his fear was shortened by the office phone ringing behind me. I slowly walked back to the phone, keeping the gun trained on him as I turned the speaker on.
"Skylar, it's Ace, has Corvus reached you yet?"
"No, why are you calling?"
"Someone reported the crash and the gunshots; luckily the responding cops are friends. Now they can buy you some time before that detective finds out but, you two need to wrap this up now."
I went to respond but paused as my smile returned, "I do believe things are coming to an end now Ace."
My father turned around to see Darnell, Henry, and Philip hanging from the lighting rig, he ran from the window and snatched the blinds down. I stopped him before he could try and smash the window out, "Get back to where I had you now!"
He stopped and stepped back in front of the door. I managed to see Corvus on the cameras marching up the stairs to VIP which meant he would be behind that door in seconds.
"Skylar, is everything alright? What's going on, are you alright?"
'I'm fine Ace, Corvus strung those three I had the party tie up to the lighting rig and they're now hanging from it."
"Katherine, I swear to you I'm going to kill you and your little boyfriend."
I smirked as I could see the office door slowly opening from behind him.
"Ace, I'll have Corvus call you back once we're done."
Just as I hung up the phone and Corvus sprang into action.
