I had woken up to Skylar missing and immediately checked my phone, there was a note left in it saying how she was woken up by her father blowing up her phone; it explained that Darnell finally was released from the hospital, how she was forced to return to them, how she had to use my card to pay for a ride into the city, and how she wanted to hang out at the again park later today. There were a few text messages sent a few hours later, mostly rants and the desire she has, wishing she was still in bed with me and didn't have to leave. Although I wanted to respond, tell her to be patient and reassure her she would be soon, or just to respond and talk to her, she made it clear that it was unsafe to randomly message her. So, as I got up to go shower, I left my phone behind and proceeded with my morning to not be tempted to contact her. After my shower, getting dressed, and breakfast, I returned to my device to find a new voicemail and six missed calls from Skylar.
"Hey Corvus and Haven, don't worry nothing's wrong, we just wanted to hear your voice. I already have a plan in place to cause a big enough problem today so that way I can 'run away' for the next few days, that way we can plan like we were supposed to. Darnell still doesn't remember anything, so that's good for us. I managed to find out that the virus worked, so that is taken care of and he can no longer track me. I got my mom's stuff out of its hiding place and I'll message you soon where to pick up the drop from. After I get away today, I want to show you another side of me that I'm not entirely sure how you'll react to. So just...be ready for that. See you soon, be ready."
I smiled and darted out the door for my car, once inside I didn't slow down; I made my way to the city and stopped at the park we were at yesterday, waiting for Skylar's call to action. An hour later I received a text saying that they were at a local store and that she would be carrying a bag with her until I showed up for the drop. I quickly made my way to the aforementioned store and got inside. Once inside, I didn't even have to risk texting her I could hear her father and Darnell bickering somewhere nearby. I grabbed a shopping cart, pulled out my phone, and threw some random objects into it. I followed the voices and found Skylar and Philip at the end of one aisle, presumably following the other two; but when I went to turn down the aisle, I noticed Skylar gesturing for me to wait while keeping her hand below her waist. I stopped and pretended to look at some of the nearby items but, maintained eyesight of her. As they began to exit the aisle heading away from me, she set her bag down at the end of the aisle, I quickly rushed over and picked up the bag, and made my way out to the store.
Once I made it back to my car, I sat the bag down in front of the passenger seat and waited for her to come out.
Do you think it is a good idea to wait on her?
What? I just want to see her again is all, it's not like I'm going to approach her.
But, what if someone or one of them notices her bag is missing?
No one saw me come in or go out. So just relax Haven, I just want to look at her.
No one but the cameras.
Her father didn't care enough to protect her from being chased, what makes you think he'll care if she lost a bag?
You know what... you're right.
Thirty minutes passed and she walks out with her father pushing Darnell in, what I can only think would be his temporary wheelchair. As she walked over to her father's vehicle, she glanced over at me and smiled softly, I nodded and quickly drove off.
What did we do, paralyze him with that kick?
Maybe, like I said before he better be glad, he's not dead.
