3rd person pov
"And the first position goes to Mr. Kim Taehyung from the boys' section. A round of applause."
The spotlight immediately found Taehyung as soon as he stood up, illuminating his figure clad in a tailored black suit. As he made his way through the crowd toward the stage, followed by a spotlight the auditorium echoed with the sound of applause. All eyes were on him, cheering and celebrating his achievement, except for one.
Kim Jisoo, sitting amidst the crowd, watched Taehyung's ascent to the stage with a measured expression, her applause slow.
As Taehyung stood there accepting the award, he looked like he was made for the spotlight but so was Kim Jisoo. There was an unspoken rivalry between the two. Just like Kim Jisoo was the head girl for the girls' campus, he was the head boy for the boys' campus. The two campuses do not interact much except for annual prize distribution and some here-and-there competitions. But whenever they do it either the two campuses go head to head or a spark blooms. But dating between the two campuses is strictly prohibited.
"I would like to thank all of my teachers and my parents for bringing me all the way here. It's true what they say – victory indeed tastes sweeter when there's good competition," he said the last sentence while giving a half smirk into the crowd. " thank you, everyone, for a lovely year. See you in next."
Jisoo could feel him looking at her and wanted nothing more than to walk across the stage and wipe it off, but there's always a better way to do something. "See you next year, Kim", she murmured.
The memory truly was unforgettable but she wouldn't have thought that a confession by Jennie would bring it back.
"You mean, You. Fell. In. Love. With. The. Oh-so-Dispisable. Kim. Taehyung," Jisoo spelled out clearly baffled.
Jennie simply shrugged, her smile unwavering. "Oh! He's quite lovable," she replied, unfazed by Jisoo's reaction. "And don't look at me like that," she added, noticing the cringe on Jisoo's face.
"Well, it's not easy to accept that my best friend fell in love with my rival. And also you do know we are not allowed to date boys from our school. So, dating a head boy over that is too ..."
"Far-fetched, I know. I just wanted to get it out, you know. Besides, it's not like I love love him, I just like him."
"Whatever you say~" Jisoo teased.
Laughing, Jennie got up and dusted off her skirt. "Let's go back now. Everyone must be looking for us," she suggested, extending her hand to Jisoo.
"Yeah, and they are desperate to know about your mystery man," Jisoo added, taking Jennie's hand.
"Oh, I will take care of it." Jennie smiled at her.
"How?" Jisoo was suspicious. That smile meant trouble.
"I'll say I was talking about Jisoo. Because I didn't say I liked someone. I just said there's a man."
Jisoo stood there regretting her decision to save her.
"Jendeukie," she called out her name with a forced smile. "5 laps around the ground for violating the dress code, "Jisoo declared, pointing at Jennie's hair accessory and snatching her necktie.
"Kim Jisoo, give me back my tie!"
