Y/N POV

When the invitation arrived unexpectedly, the pain and suffering from the breakup with my ex were still a sensitive scar in my heart. It was a plain cream-coloured envelope with her name written in elegant handwriting. As I read the words that confirmed my worst fears-she was getting married-my heart fell.

Although I knew deep down that this day would come, it was still a shock to see it in writing. I felt a whirlwind of emotions-grief, sadness, and a sense of finality. But amidst it all, there was a tiny glimmer of hope that maybe, just maybe, attending the wedding would help bring some closure to the chapter of my life I had thought was destined for forever.

When the wedding day arrived, I took a deep breath and attempted to calm my anxiety as I stood outside the venue. I told myself that no matter how bad it felt, I had to deal with this entirely.

As I entered the grand hall, adorned with flowers and soft lights, I couldn't help but feel a mix of nostalgia and longing. Memories of the times we had shared flooded my mind-laughter, tears, and the countless promises we had made to each other.

But I was determined not to let my emotions take over. As I welcomed familiar people I knew, I put on a brave face and forced a grin. I was a tornado of emotions on the inside, but I knew I couldn't let it show.

She looked stunning in her wedding gown when I finally saw her. Happiness sparkled in her eyes, and I recognised I had to let go of any hatred or jealousy. Even if it wasn't with me, she deserved to be happy.

I approached her, trying to think of the proper words to convey my best wishes. "Congratulations," I said, remarkably calmly. "I hope today is everything you've ever dreamed of."

"Thank you, Y/N," she responded, and I caught a glimpse of sadness in her eyes. Perhaps she, too, acknowledged the significance of what we previously had.

We exchanged pleasantries, and as the ceremony began, I took my seat, trying not to lose my cool. I felt a tug at my emotions during the vows and touching words. It was a bittersweet experience to watch someone I once sincerely loved take this important step without me.

Yet, as I watched her exchange vows with her partner, I realised that it was time for me to move forward too. Even though it was unpleasant at the time, I had to embrace the possibility of finding love and happiness again.

I observed a girl seated a few seats ahead of me throughout the ceremony. Something about her caught my eye. She seemed to radiate warmth and kindness. I decided to walk closer to her, take a seat next to her, and start a conversation with her throughout the reception.

"Hi, I'm Y/N," I introduced myself, trying to sound casual despite my nerves.

She smiled warmly and said, "Hi, Y/N. It's nice to meet you. I'm Sana."

As the music played softly in the background, Sana and I continued our conversation, unaware of the passage of time.
