Chapter 5

Two Days Later

Julie POV

It's my 16th birthday today! But my party got cancelled because of safety reasons. Having a party would be like an open invitation for the rogues to come and attack. Nobody wants that.

I got out of bed and I got ready.

I walked down the stairs and noticed just how quiet it was. I didn't like it. I am afraid more rogues broke in. I immediately start looking for something hard that will knock out someone. I see the bat my dad and Tish used to play with and grab it. I walk down the steps. Ready to attack.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!" my dad, mom, Tish, Nick, his parents, and Henry and Patricia yelled.

I dropped the bat and started tearing up. They had a huge cake on the kitchen table and a huge card next to it.

"Oh my goodness! Thank you! This means the world to me" I say. It comes out slurred because I was crying.

"Sweety its the least we could do! After having to cancel your party and all" my mother said.

The fact that they still did something instead of nothing at all meant the world to me.

We had the cake, then we opened my presents. I noticed how close Tish and Nick were. They usually sat miles apart from each other, strange.

In the Afternoon

My parents, Henry, Patricia, and the Beta and his wife went out to lunch for a meeting on the rogue issues. Tish and Nick were no where in sight which was odd. That left me sitting here all alone, on my birthday.

I heard a knock. I went to open the door and a big basket was sitting on the floor. It had a huge teddy bear and chocolates and cookies. With flowers too! There was a card I brought in the basket while I was reading the card.

Dear Julie,

Happy Birthday. I wish nothing but the best. You are beautiful on the inside and out. You changed me in so many ways it's not even funny. I hope you have the time of your life today because you are finally going to shift! Wear something pretty because there is going to be another surprise waiting for you later on.

Who's J? I do not know anyone with the name that starts with J. Is it James? I doubt it, he is setting the armies for Silver Light pack. It can't be him, it makes no sense. Whoever it is sure knows how to buy a girl a present. This is awesome. they got all my favorite chocolates, cookies, AND flowers!

I better take a shower and get dressed, just in case it is someone I know.

I wore my pretty royal blue dress that came down to just a little bit above my knees. It was slightly poofy but not to poofy, formal but not too formal. I let my hair down in my natural curls put on my flats and applied mascara and lip gloss.

I heard a knock at the door. I went to go get it. It was a card. I opened it, it said,

Go to your backyard.

Okay this is quite odd. I haven't seen my parents all day or Nick and Tish, they are usually always with me!

I walk outside and what I saw brought tears to my eyes. There were hanging lanterns everywhere. A table set for two, and a card in the middle of the table. I picked it up, it said,

Hope you like it, I spent 2 days trying to think of a way to surprise you. Hope it worked. Happy Birthday Julie, now turn around so I can say it to your face.
