Author's noteee: hi just wanted to blackmail you in the spirit of Anna and Area and say if you all don't start leaving me some comments i'll leave it another two weeks before updating 😊 (this is a good one, enjoy)
I distribute the fruity lip gloss over my nude lipstick, making my birthday look complete. I always find my makeup never looks right until I add a lip product.
The girly pop songs blasting on the surround sound system in my beauty room lift my mood as Rihanna transitions into GaGa, GaGa into Britney and Britney into Destiny's child.
If that wasn't enough to torture Jace and Luca then our Karaoke performances definitely had them contemplating the quickest way to end their own suffering.
"You don't have to be so stiff Luca. At least sit down." Jace switches the target of his negativity from Gray and I to his silent, tense friend that has been guarding the door and taking everything very seriously since he arrived. I can't lie, it's unnerving. Having an AISE agent so on guard is a constant reminder that we have no idea how extreme this threat is or what could happen at any given moment.
Luca breaks his trance and looks up from the floor, looking more off guard then I've ever seen him.
"Do you want me to look out for your sister or not?" Luca tilts his head ever so slightly, keeping his voice steady and void of too much emotion.
"We're all here with her now, I think she'll survive for the time being if you want to act like my friend and talk to me." Jace emphasises, raising his brows accusingly.
Luca's eyes assess the room once then twice for good measure before his squared shoulders deflate a little and he finally joins Jace on the sofa.
We all watch curiously and wait, Gray and I intrigued to see the relaxed, friendly side to him that managed to befriend our brother.
But his lips stay sealed and his eyes flicker between all of ours equally waiting for one of us to spark a new conversation.
"Brother...we have an expensive ass security system that will let us know if some criminal tries to bust down our door. You can engage in a conversation it won't kill anyone." Jace shoves Luca in attempt to loosen him up but the mountain of muscle himself barely budges an inch.
Luca sighs with a gleam of curiosity in his eyes in such a way that tells me we're going to regret pushing him this far.
"As you wish brother." He mocks Jace, proving my instincts right. "I am actually curious whether you seriously all thought I wouldn't figure out your secret the second I walked into your house?" He raises a brow and although I've just met him I can tell by the lack of creases in his forehead that it's an uncommon expression for him.
I can't speak for Jace and Gray but the cheerful buzz from the upbeat music ices over replaced by cold dread and fear.
Which secret exactly has he uncovered in our household? There's so many at the minute it's hard to decipher which we may have let slip.
"What...what do you think you know exactly?" I hesitantly question, nervously biting the insides of my cheeks.
"On second thought...It's only fair we stick to our deal. I don't question your Dad and you don't question me, right?" Just when I thought he was about to relax and show a rare side to him he closes right back up, his mask of indifference slackening his features and his dark brown eyes boring into my soul.
It intimidates me all over again, so much so that I'm thoughtlessly nodding in compliance without seeing exactly how he'd just manipulated me until it's too late.
