Tim's POV:

If you told me 3 weeks ago that I have met Lucy again, been shot next to her and that she has met my wife. I wouldn't believe you. But here we are.

She visited me at least once a day and made sure I had enough food. Which she didn't have to do. I'm not her friend anymore. The only thing I am to her is her training officer.

She clearly thinks I'm not ready to go back to duty yet. Or she just wants to drive, that's possible too...

"Why would I want that, Boot? You think I'd go back on duty before I'm 100 percent?" She didn't. And she also didn't get extra treatment for saving me. For doing her damn job.

When Lucy went on a bathroom break, I decided it was time for another Tim-test. Her duty belt was 'lost', that's what you get when you hang it on a bathroom stall where anyone can get it. Luckily for her it didn't take long until I got a call. I reached for her belt and handed it back to her.

"Get in, Chen"

"What - What's happening? Where are we going?"

"Emergency room." Because Isabel just O.D.'d.

She didn't like seeing me at all. And on top she decided to leave the hospital, like she didn't almost kill herself. Does she have any idea how many dead junkies I saw the past month? She was going to kill herself sooner or later...

"7-Adam-19, report of a biker gang, drunk and disorderly at The Hard Road bar." Finally another call. One to hopefully calm my mind.

Chen asked if I was alright, said that we could always have another unit assigned to the call. She was worried, for nothing.

Lucy's POV:

Tim and I just got assigned to another call and now he's going to fight some gangmember? He clearly isn't doing well. He's giving away a felony, while getting hit. Just so he can relieve some anger?! He's supposed to train me, mot get me in unnecessary trouble...

"Hey Nolan, can I talk to you for a second." I asked him when we were back at the station to process the gang member. "I'm worried about Tim. He instigated a fight with a biker, wouldn't let me call for backup, could have gotten both of us killed. I think he's spinning out, trying to prove himself."

"You think he came back too soon?"

"Maybe. He got hit with a lot of personal stuff on top of it, too, and he's not handling it well. Oh shit, I'm going to have to talk to him, aren't I? This is so not going to end well."

I thanked Nolan for the talk and went back to processing. When I was done I saw Tim getting an extra 6 doses of NARCAN. As if we didn't have enough of it in our trunk.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The area seemed nice. Not too chique. So this is where Isabel lived for the past months.
"7-Adam-19, show us Code 6, Florence and Central Avenue. Stay here." I said to Lucy, who didn't look as happy and bubbly as usual.
I opened the trunk to get the NARCAN, and not a minute later Lucy was standing next to me. Didn't I tell her to stay in the car? Apparently I'm enabling Isabel instead of helping her. Because psychology major Lucy knows it all too well. But I know better, she's going to shoot up and that's just the reality. It will save her life.
"Addiction doesn't just destroy the addict. It destroys the family, too." Is she really going to give me therapy or something? Who the hell is she to tell me this, she definitely isn't little Lucy anymore...
"I'm your rookie. And I need you to train me, not put me in danger because you can't handle losing your wife. Look, at least let me go up. If you do, it'll just confirm your worst fears. Do you really want to see how she's living, or who she's living with?"
Lucy had a point. "It's apartment 510 apparently." I handed her the NARCAN and off she went, to meet my wife again. I bet she wouldn't have thought I would marry someone like Isabel...
About 10 minutes later, I saw Lucy coming back.
"She was a cop." Her eyes were big, apologetic. As if she was really sorry. It wasn't her fault my life was so fucked up.
"I-I, uh, thought she was having an affair. Staying out late, making excuses. I didn't realize it was the drugs until the hook was in deep." Lucy could always make someone feel like they were worth it. And that she was a friend you could tell anything to. That hasn't changed a bit in 10 years...
"You know, her apartment is pretty decent, so no need to worry about how she lives." Lucy didn't need to know I started worrying less about Isabel and more about her...
